well, for one she may be too old now for the team. number two, the last time i saw her play, she kept setting the wings (ergo, under-utilizing the middle blockers). what i really dislike about her is she has a short temper. fofao seems to be more accurate too. jodaman how bout carolina, does she have what it takes to fill in the shoes of fofao? di ba sya naman yung main setter nila in other international meets other than the olympics before fofao came out of retirement?

well, i don't think we will see any changes in the line up soon, so we'll see more of ana tiemi and dani. maybe fabiola will be there, but the chances might be slim because she's already 26.

From FIVB:
World Grand Prix enters Last Chance Saloon Lausanne, August 12, 2009 — It's now or never for this year's World Grand Prix title hopefuls as the tournament enters its third and final preliminary-round weekend.
Only the top five teams plus host Japan (who received a bye) will move on to the Final Round in Tokyo from Aug. 19-23.
Undefeated Brazil and the Netherlands currently top the standings with 12 points each, followed by China (11), Germany (10) and Japan (9). Russia (9) occupies the coveted Final Round spot heading into the crunch weekend, but Poland, USA and Thailand are all just one point behind with three matches to play.
Russia will square off against Thailand, Puerto Rico and the United States in Bangkok in Pool I, knowing three straight wins will be the only way to ensure passage to Tokyo.
"Our main objective in the World Grand Prix is that we keep an eye on a place at the London Olympics. We have already made a long-term plan for the Olympics and 3-4 key players have joined the team to help fulfill such dreams," said Russia head coach Vladimir Kuzyutkin. "I hope my team will improve our fortunes here. Everyone will try her best to make our dreams of qualifying for the Finals in Tokyo come true."
Poland has its work cut out for it when it takes on Asian powerhouse China, the Netherlands and the Dominican Republic in Pool G in Hong Kong. Should it be able to navigate its way out of such a difficult group and into the finals, Poland will definitely be confident of its chances of going far at the tournament.
In Mokpo, Korea the hosts have an uphill battle against a seemingly invincible Brazil, a resurgent Japan and the always-powerful Germans.
Korea is a young team undergoing a renewal process and has been buoyed by some promising recent results, including a close loss to Russia in Osaka and a win over Puerto Rico. The team hopes to play spoiler at home this weekend against its more-fancied opponents.
Standings after Week 2: 1. Brazil 12 pts. 2. Netherlands 12 3. China 11 4. Germany 10 5. Japan 9 6. Russia 9 7. Poland 8 8. USA 8 9. Thailand 8 10. Puerto Rico 7 11. Korea 7 12. Dominican Republic 7

3-1 Russia.... 25 - 18, 24- 26, 25 - 11 and 25 - 12...

matagal nang wala si tishchenko (alternative spellings: tischenko, tichtchenko; depende kung anong bansa/lenghwahe ang nag-s-spell). her replacements, borodakova, merkulova and alimova, can do quicks and running attacks just fine. malamang hindi lang gaanong ginamit ngayon. wala rin ngayon sa team na ito sila merkulova at alimova. merkulova is still young and as tall as gamova though. maybe we may see her back in the team soon.
