i think setting talaga ang problem with the Brazilian team.. i don't see Dani Lins stepping up big time.. pero nagawa na nilang talunin ang USA ng four sets last World Championships... maybe they can pull out some magic tricks again this time on World Cup if they have the chance to face each other..

Natalo nila ang USA ng 3 or 4 sets sa Elims sa Grand Prix. Tapos binawian sila sa Finals! Injured din kasi sila Paula and Mari nung Finals.

USA really is the strongest team for me today. Brazil maybe no 1 on paper pero nakukulangan talaga ako sa kanila, at mas gusto ko na panooring USA. Logan Tom is quite the silent operator - steady sa receive, sa pag-dig ang galing. Angeli Tabaquero reminds me of her pag nasa backrow si Ange nung UAAP days. Si Hooker naman, grabe. She can attack over the blockers of Serbia. Ibang klase tumalon. I agree with someone here who said Hooker could be the next Gamova. Well to me, she's well on her way. Just a little more experience pa.
Sayang, di nakapasok Russia. I want to see a rematch of USA-Russia (the complete line-up - Kosheleva, Sokolova and Gamova). Parang nung World Championship lang.

I think that set up has always been the traditional chinese system, a bit like the russian system na isang OH, ang libero at ang OPP ang receivers. Zhou su hong did all those--she was an awesome receiver and front-row attacker, and a dependable blocker. Nadagdagan lang ang trabaho ni zhang lei ng back row attack. mukhang tinanggal na ng tuluyan ng fivb ang connection sa laola for the duration of the games. about china and japan. i think asian teams had their own definition of what an opposite hitter should be. until china tried it recently (which they scrapped), asian opposite hitters simply added to the deception their teams always used. i'm actually glad that china replaced zhang jie with zhang lei in the starting line up. zhang jie just did not contribute much, and the chinese play as a whole looked like a half-baked european team. Zhang Jie confuses me. She's an OK MB/Opp, she has a decent backrow attack. Pero OK and decent just doesn't cut it. What they're doing now seems to work, a receiving Opposite in Zhang Lei and Wang Yimei as the outlet in the backrow.

maganda rin naman ang laro ng China.. they are slowly picking up the pace... di na sila ganun ka predictable sa mga plays nila at ang mga attackers are reliable naman plus ang defense nila maganda na rin..

You don't think del core is a good attacker? I thought she was quite dependable? Lol BTW, hurrah Lucia Bosetti. Lucia Bosetti is doing an awesome job at attacking. I never saw her as a good attacker, parang Del Core, you put her there for the purpose of receiving bonus points na lang yung points nila. She's hitting at around 60% not bad for a 175 cm OH/Opp. Weird kasi yung stats ngayon e, pero she seems to be the Best Attacker in the tourney right now when you have to factor the number of attempts that she has made. Yung Best Attacker kasi ngayon on the stat sheet only made one attempt pero pumuntos, ayun 100% attack percentage na.

Carolina didn't spread the ball quite well. More than anything, i think brazil needs someone to neutralize their emotions. Maybe id sheila were made the captain, she can influence others better with her focus? No? Thanks sa videos at links. Wen! Isu met! Nandiyan sila hui, yang, at ma to take the attention away from wang. Hui, on her own can take over wang too if the latter is having a bad day. They've got good back-up setter and libero too. maganda rin naman ang laro ng China.. they are slowly picking up the pace... di na sila ganun ka predictable sa mga plays nila at ang mga attackers are reliable naman plus ang defense nila maganda na rin..

Maybe id sheila were made the captain, she can influence others better with her focus?

^^ nasa late 20's na kasi sina mari, paula and sheilla. i think that they have reached their peak during 2008. plus the fact that their setters fabiola and dani aren't really as good as fofoa. I agree. Nag peak nga sila nung 2008 at mukhang pahina na sila. The introduction of younger players such as Garay and Natalia as OHs is comforting though. Late 20's na nga sila. I think Mari, Paul and Sheilla were born around 1983-1982 so nearing 30's na nga sila.

Different styles of play, USA's play reminiscent of a more powerful Italian style while Russia will always be powerful.

and that's what i like about ze roberto--leave it to him to leave not a stone unturned to make sure that the national team doesn't run out of stock of wing hitters. ;D they are a little bit short of young middle blockers who are as tall as thaisa or fabiana though. i can't believe italy, on the other hand, though. bakit kaya naubusan sila ng opposite hitters? tapos kulang pa sa international experience ang karamihan ng batang players nila. ^^ nasa late 20's na kasi sina mari, paula and sheilla. i think that they have reached their peak during 2008. plus the fact that their setters fabiola and dani aren't really as good as fofoa. ^^ well brazil is a volleyball crazy country. saka maganda ang liga nila. as young as 18 pwede nang mag-pro saka may limit sila sa mga imports unlike italy na kahit ilang non-italians kada team pwede.
