ayos ang match-up ng FEU(#1 serving, receiving and setting) at UST (#1 attacking, blocking and diddging) no wonder they're on top of the standings.

-UST attempts to move closer of sweep of UAAP men’s volleyball tournament-
The University of Santo Tomas (UST) men’s volleyball team goes one step closer of gaining a sweep of the double-round eliminations as it goes up against the National University (NU) Bulldogs on Wednesday in the continuation of the 70th UAAP men’s volleyball action at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City.
The Tigers, which are coming off a four-set (25-16, 16-25, 15-25, 20-25) win against De La Salle last Saturday that brought their winning streak to 12 games, will be up against a Bulldogs squad which has only one win to show in their last 12 assignments.
UST head coach Emil Lontoc will rely on MVP candidate Reny John Balse and Hanry James Pecana to carry the offensive load for the team.
The blocking chores, meanwhile, will be handled by Harby Ilano and Jason Ramos.
If they manage to beat NU, the only stumbling block left for the Tigers will be arch-rival Far Eastern University (FEU) whom they will face in the last game of the double-round elimination on Sunday at the UP College of Human Kinetics Gym.
A 14-0 sweep means an automatic entry to the finals based on UAAP rules.
UST, which last won the men’s title back in the 2002-2003 UAAP season, is currently leading the league even in the statistical department category.
UST is currently rank number 1 in attacks (44.8 percent), blocks (2.70 per set) and digs (2.32/set). The Tigers, on the other hand, are also ranked number two in the league in service (1.26 set), setting (11.95/set) and receiving (16.62/set).
Meanwhile, Edget Mabbyad of FEU is currently leading the statistical race for this year’s MVP award after 12 games.
Mabbayad is currently leading the league in point production with 199 points followed by Ateneo’s Andre Joseph Pareja with 147 points and Reny John Balse with 133.
Mabbayad, who is an open and middle spiker, also leads the league in attack with a percent of 53.26, serves (0.38/set) and number two in blocks with (0.74/set). (GMANews.TV)
