the problem with v-league management is that they are not consistent with their rules. laging pabago-bago. para bang mayroon silang pinapaborang team. i think that's the reason din kung nag leave ang ust nung 4th season. nope. UST's reason of skipping the 4th season was because most of their good players (coyukang, etc) were graduating. i have heard otherwise but if that's the real reason then i stand corrected.

a lost of ust and a possiblty of dlsu wud be extremely painful but if u really a volleyball fanatic, it doesnt matter anymore. wat matter is dat there are still other competetive teams and there is still d shakey's v-league , always present to give us volleyball addicts so much fun..... i agree,,,para makadiscover naman ako ng bagong style ng game, new faces atbp...excited na ko.. pero mukhang mglalaro pa rin ang dlsu-taft...

I heard na kaya hindi na daw sasali ung DLSU this conference kasi they lost Carla Llaguno, Michelle Datuin and Celine Hernandez kasi ang pagkakaalam ko is Carla & Celine graduated and decided to work, tapos yung kay Michelle naman, i'm not sure kung nagtatrabaho na siya or planning to finish her master's degree. Pati hindi rin daw pinayagan sila Charleen Cruz and Manilla Santos to be regular players. kaya ayun...

La Salle quits V-League
Archers second team to withdraw after UST

The Shakey’s V-League, the country’s premier volleyball tournament, suffered another blow yesterday when De La Salle University pulled out of the tournament, joining University of Santo Tomas in the sidelines and leaving the tournament without two of its top and most popular teams.
The tournament comes off the wraps on March 30 at The Arena in San Juan City.
Shakey’s V-League operations director Ricky Palou announced La Salle’s withdrawal yesterday, three days after back-to-back champion University of Santo Tomas had also withdrawn.
Both teams cited studies as reasons for pulling out, saying the players wanted to turn their attention to schooling although La Salle said its team was also unprepared.
"Yes, they (La Salle) will not also join the tournament," said Palou, also Ateneo’s representative to the UAAP board, in a phone interview.
"They (La Salle) said they are not ready and competitive enough to play this conference," Palou said. ""They also said they (Archers) will focus on their academic needs."
The Lady Archers and the Tigresses are considered the top two squads of the four-year tourney.
The two squads have six titles between them with UST taking the inaugural staging and the second and third conferences of the 4th season while La Salle reigned supreme in three consecutive conferences.
Palou admitted that the league might suffer from the two schools’ absence since both teams have great following, but he said he is optimistic that volleyball fans will still support the remaining teams which are also among the top teams in the country.
"It (UST and La Salle’s absence) may affect the league in terms of viewership, especially those who support both teams," said Palou. "But we believe we have a deep base of support (fans)."
Asked if he was saddened by the recent turn of events, Palou said: "I’m not saddened. I’m disappointed."
"It’s not right na di sumali just because hindi competitive yung team. Choice nila yan and we cannot force them (La Salle and UST). But they should realize that we are doing this to give them more exposure," Palou said.
"We are putting this so they can have more tournaments where they can train for the coming NCAA and UAAP seasons," Palou said.
Earlier, Cesael De los Santos, who temporarily took the coaching chores from UST head coach August Sta. Maria, said the team opted to skip the first conference so that players can attend to their academic needs.
Aside from giving attention to their studies, De los Santos said he expects the time off to help some players recover from injuries.
UAAP Season 70 spiker-of-the-year and UST’s top scorer Mary Jean Balse together with hard-hitting Venus Bernal and Angeli Tabaquero have been hounded by injuries lately.
"Burned-out ang mga players that’s why we are not joining," De los Santos said.
Another reason De los Santos laid out was the team’s intention to prepare early for the coming UAAP Season 71 volleyball tournament which the University of the Philippines will host in December.
With UST and La Salle’s absences, the league will have only six teams. These are San Sebastian College, Ateneo de Manila University, Adamson University, Far Eastern University, Lyceum of the Philippines and debuting College of Saint Benilde.
Two Visayan powerhouse teams, however, could offset the impact of their absence.
Top caliber teams from Visayas — University of San Jose-Recoletos of Cebu and University of St. La Salle of Bacolod — will make their debut in the ultimate stage of the volleyball wars where top squads from UAAP and NCAA strut their wares.

I told you so. Hindi sasali ang La Salle.
Buti nga kay Palou. Yabang pa na sabihin na they are doing the tournament for the players eh pabago-bago naman sila ng rules. Kung pinayagan sana nila ang mga players na maglaro kahit hindi na line-up sa UAAP, wala na sanang problema.

At least this is finally official. Move on and continue with the game." Besides, UST and La Salle will always be there as institutions.

Fortunately, nakahanap sila ng magandang guest player in the name of Phee Nui kaya sumali pa din sila.
