Yesh it is possible!
All you've gotta do is come up with a hot topic for the board and PM it to one of our Moderators/Global Moderators.
If your topic has potential - then you will get your very own sub-board inside a board and you will get to run it.
You get promoted to the status of an "Elite Member". You will have moderator abilities inside your own board. However, you will not "officially" be a staff member.
Remember though that if it's your board, then it's your hard work. You've gotta keep making interesting threads and keep your board alive. A member-run board will initially get a month-long trial run. Your board will be re-evaluated at the end of the trial-run period. If it is deemed to be failing, then you will be demoted to normal member status again and the board may get locked.
Elite Members who remain very active for a prolonged period may be assimilated into the official staff team. At such a point, you will be promoted to "Moderator" status.
Example of this board is located inside the Volleyball 101- The Volleyball Classroom.
