evguenia artamonova and lioubov sokolova i met team russia in a close-encounter 8 years ago (wow. long time na pala) along with team japan, brazil and germany.  this was during the world grand prix here in manila, and we had to join the games just to meet the players face to face, but the thing is, when i was about to have my shirt signed by then russia team captain, evguenia artamonova (she was actually holding my pentel pen already and smiling), a very mean guard blocked me. to think he was filipino,  artamonova said sorry in russian and just smiled at me. super sayang. i have yet to meet lioubov sokolova. i've been watching the recent tournaments on t.v., and she seems so different now. i wish i could see these two great volleybelles inside the court together. maybe beijing olympics? i have to add sangmuang patcharee. she's one of those players who got me teary-eyed. haha she's very funny, and she talks about so many things and she gave me great advices and great big hugs that up to now, i treasure. can you believe i kept the candy she gave me?! haha:D she played in the russian super league as an import which meant she really was recognized internationally with her superb skills. shin takahashi is also another interesting personality. she's probably the most consistent japanese player i've seen despite her height difference. her team relies on her powerful attacks and solid digs. Artamonova and Sokolova was part of the russian delegation in the Athens Olympics, its just that Coach Nikolay Karpol didnt let artamonova for amost the rest of the competition. i doubt it if artamonova will come back in beijing. coz its elena godina (another top caliber russian player, remember the Chachkova-Artamonova-Godina tandem during the Sydney Olympics? ^_^) she will be playing again for russia in beijing. sokolova will definitely play for russia in beijing. |

 leonel marshall - whoa high leaper talaga to... megumi kurihara & kimua saori of japan.... magaling na mabait pa, you could easily tell from a glance yuko sano - libero ng japan.... astig... mga legends na talaga leila barros- galing mag-spike, mag-dig, mag-backrow attack,,, haaay...galing niya talaga & of course jersey no. 5 lioubov sokolova (chachkova)...

from stanford university sa US...
i just like the way they play inside the court...parang hindi normal...sa sobrang bilis at lakas ng mga palo...mautak din maglaro hanep!...
nambabaon talaga...grabe si kehoe, ibang klase mag-set...as in kahit gaano kalayo...
then foluke naman as a blocker, and a great spiker as well...
pero the best sa kanila si ms. BARBOZA...kahit backliner...baon pa rin ang spike...

ang alam ko ay si mireya ay nasa cuba pa rin, at si taismary ay opposite hitter na ng italy (but currently playing in turkey).
there's some news that artamonova might be back to play for russia in beijing, because godina's reception and digging are terrible. if artamonova's back, then naku, napaka-ganda ng starting lineup nila (add merkulova, an MB, who's just as tall as gamova).
logan tom plays with godina, gamova, polish national player likotras, and ex-russian national russian players gratcheva and borodakova in dinamo moscow.
tapos si ogonna nnamani ay sa italy (i could've sworn i saw her in a few matches).
lindsay berg alternates with ah mow-santos as the starting setter. si kehoe ba magaling? dati si kano'e kamana'o ay kasali sa grand prix (or was it montreux).

Pero like ko parin as a setter eh si Cacciatori, galing.... Everytime na nakikita ko yung moves ni serafica eh si cacciatori agad naaalala ko..
