Actually the names i alreday listed, are current members of the RP training pool. And yes Jinni Mondejar is a part of the pool. SEMANA isn't. For good reason.
And I know for a fact that Ness Bautista is being Trained for the MB position, wc suits her because at 6'0-6'1, she's the tallest player we have in the line up. sayang height nya if OH sya. At the middle pos, her height will be maximized both for blocking and spiking.
I agree with set08. Semana at 5'5-5'6 isn't tall enough... yes she's talented. But against the players of thailand... wala syang magagawa. parang takenutsa of japan. sa kanya parati pinapadaan yung spike when she's blocking. And believe me, semana is NOWHERE NEAR THE TALENT OF takenutsa.
Btw, Maizo has the fastest quick attack I've seen here in filipino VB. Back set pa yun.
And as for the backrow players. Gone are the days that there would members of the team na pang backrow lang. Kya nga may libero eh. The solution: Train players to play well defensively as well.
In conclusion... haha... CHARO and SEMANA are very tallented players. But because of their physical limitations, they have already reached the apex of their talents. Meaning, for their height, sobrang magaling nila... pero hanggang dun nlang un. Unlike, Bernal, Balse, Bautista, etc... they ca still be trained to jump higher, spike harder, dig the ball better, etc... Sila Semana and Charo... unless they can jump like mireya luis... thats it for them.

errr... by saying backrow, i meant for attacking... i also know that jinni mondejar is in the national team because i have seen her play against the other south east asian nations and she is useless just like the very disappointing michelle carolino... i also want to know the height of charo soriano... somehow, im still not fully convinced that these two should not be included in the rp team... however, i don't think that's any of your intention so lets leave it at that... in conclusion (haha!), i still believe that these two should be in the rp team more than mondejar and de leon...

Ah ok... backrow. hehe... my mistake.
I respect your opinion gruenplay. But I really disagree... Mondejar is still young. And at 5'10-5'11, malaki ang potential nya. Siguro you were disappointed with michelle because you were expecting soooo much from her. lets face it. michelle was one of he best hitters we had, and at local leagues she was a standout, but at 5'8, her limitations were clearly seen, she didnt stand a chance against international teams. The same thing will happen to SEMANA and CHARO.
Charo is 5'7-5'8... check out the pics nung last v-league awarding ceremonies. Tabaquero is taller than her. And SEMANA 5'6 at best.
I just can't imagine them trying to block or spike against pleumjit or wilavan.
Btw, I also think Alarca is too small to play the MB pos... at 5'9 pwede sa local leagues... pero internationally... nah...
hehe.. peace.

VBGenius, i got your point. Hehe. Don't be mad aa.. pero medyo nagdidisagree ako dun sa iba mong post.
Wendy Semana can be a member of the RP Team. Example is yung kadalasang ginagawa ni Coach August nung vleague.
She's a versatile player. She can spike everywhere .. mapa-open, middle, backrow, o ano pa man. Napatunayan na naman niya siguro yan. Hehe. She stands 5'8 ata. I believe she's taller than Angeli Tabaquero. I'll make a research on that. Imagine, she's on top of the rankings sa best digger at best receiver. Be a critical thinker.
Conclusion: Yes, height really matters pagdating sa Volleyball. Totoo yun. Good blocker, spiker, receiver and digger din. In short, magaling siyang player.

there are two kinds of volleyball playing styles here in the phils right now. 1. quick and short... just think of adamson. 2. tall and slow... think of UST. Now the reason charo and alarca are doing great at our local leagues is that theyre in the middle. Kumbaga, they have enough height to tower small teams like adamson. and at the same time, play competetively with the tall players of UST. This is the prob of our national team... they play tall and slow. Now imagine if the rp team starts playing like adamson... panalo yun. Btw, heres the pic Charo... because she can hit and play frrom every corner... i cant see a pos for her in the rp team. "jack of all traits, master of none" Sad but true. In alarca's case... maybe she can be a part of the rp team... but not as a MB. at 5'9 she's too small. Believe me... how can she block quick the spikes of pleumjit if she cant get enough height? siguro pwede pa as utility. Btw, ummmm... balse is 5'10. kesinee and bautista is 5'11-6'0. Dont believe the stats in the v-league website. kesinee has the upperhand bec of experience. And the main reason, i think that niether semana and charo should be in the national team is: potential. Do you think there is still room for improvement? bec in the cases of balse (i think her spike should be quicker, more wrist action and less arm) with bernal (should develop a better approch, and improve her floor defense) etc... but with semana and charo... un na yung apex ng skills nila. thats why they are dominating the local leagues. but i do respect your opinion...

Haha. We understand each other. Pero, there's some point na hindi ako nagaagree sa iyo and some point na hindi ka din nagaagree sa akin. Hehehe. Hmmm ., It would be better for the both of us to stop this discussion. Hehe. Basta, whats important is we've shared our opinions and we respected it. Hehe.

what about tina salak? she's an excellent setter and a very tall player 6 feet more or less. She would be a great setter and a blocker for the RP-WVT.

they should have open try-outs just like before ndi selection ang ginagawa, ust is a very good team with one of the best volleyball training programs in the collegiate level pero for a national team they should go and find other players for the national team, sa level ng international dpat mtibay ang players eh local scene ntatalo pa ust sa ibang schools what more sa sea games, asian championships and princess cup?kya nga di sila pinadala nung sea games eh

Example is yung kadalasang ginagawa ni Coach August nung vleague. I just want to point out that is kind of substitution (5-1 invertion) is done only when the setter rotates UPFRONT and not at the back. This is to provide extra attacking option in the front, plus reduces the liability of the setter as a blocker, since a lot of setters are smaller than their teamates. Another common substitution is to bring in a blocker for the setter before the setter rotates to the back (done before the opposing team serves). This is with the assumption that the play is killed by the block, otherwise it could get very messy if a rally occurs. This isn't a problem with Cuba because they run a 6-2, nor with the present Italian squad, since Aguero, their opposite (utility), is still a skilled setter, thanks to her years of experience in the Cuban team.

we hve absolutley no backrow player, and don't tell me balse can because she's not very effective in the backrow as of now... I'm glad to see that backrow attacking is becoming more popular nowadays. I started seeing Balse and Roces (when she was still palying with UE) do it in the 2005-2006 UAAP season, and now Soriano and CastaƱeda do it for their own teams. However, what I would really want to see is using the backrow attack in either positions 1 and 6 as part of combinations plays instead of something used as a clutch option to kill the ball. It's more beautiful to look at, IMO. Effectivity is another issue though. All of the Filipino backrow hitters so far tend to drive their spikes towards the baseline. In fact, most of the opposing blockers don't even bother to jump and block, treating the attack as a chance ball. They just let the diggers wait at the baseline pick the ball up.
