from haseq:
Rhea Dimaculangan is training as a setter of the national team.
Danielle Castaneda of UP has been on and off training for the national team since September 2007. According to Coach Shaq, her schedule of practice with the national team is Tuesday and Thursday, considering that she's still training with her UP team on other days.
Nerissa Bautista is poised to become the hardest hitter of this team, probably even harder than what Balse is producing at the moment. She has a tremendous leaping ability and her sense of timing is impeccable.
Next is Aiza Maizo who has since then moved to a quicker position. She's still having some problems with her timing. But her form is much, much better now.
Jinni Mondejar is improving in terms of speed and jumping ability. She's still having problems with her wrist action. But overall, she has definitely improved from what I saw of her last year.
The libero of the national team is doing great. Hannah Suarez, formerly of Adamson, is tremendous as a libero. She's quick and defends the back very well. She has definitely found her niche in the team.
Suzanne Roces is now hitting the ball twice as hard as she did during the V-League.
Of course, Venus Bernal remains the undisputed "hitter" of this young squad even as Angeli Tabaquero stays as a worthy diagonal.
Ging Balse is still the idol of many. But at her age, she might be considering other options. Fans can only hope that she continues playing for the national team at least for another two years.
We have three setters and Rhea is one; the other two are Denise Tan and the "mother" of the team, Ruby De Leon.
Overall, I'm happy with the way the team is shaping up. I would say that in two year's time, we'll have one of the best volleyball teams this country has ever produced.
But then again, Thailand is rising in the world rankings.
Yes. Silver is a worthy goal for the 2009 SEA Games.

Haha. I think Rubie is better than Wendy dahil sa lamang siya sa experience. Hehe.

seman is tooooooooooooooo small to be a part of the RP team. Ndi sya makaka-block. Rubie at 5'8 is still small, but she's the best we have ryt now. if ever charo would be lost in the RP team... what would be her pos? She's too small for the middle and utility. She cant be a setter. And we already have powerful OHs. I think the pos should be like this: OH1-Venus Bernal OH2-Su Roces MB 1-Ness Bautista MB2-MJ Balse Utility-Aiza Maizo Setter-Rubie De Leon Second Stringers: OH1-Angeli Tabaquero OH2-Charo Soriano MB1-Jinni Mondejar MB2- Utility- M. Castaneda Setter2-Serafica or Dimaculangan As you can see, we are lacking tall palyers that can be at par thailand. Especially at the Middle pos. I tought of morada... nahh.. she's too small. Semana as the 2nd setter... nah... again too small. Daqui... could be... but she has to improve her floor defense and spiking form.

Daqui... could be... but she has to improve her floor defense and spiking form. i would have to disagree with you on this one... i'd still pick charo soriano over other utility players, although i haven't seen aiza maizo play... we hve absolutley no backrow player, and don't tell me balse can because she's not very effective in the backrow as of now... i'd totally protest if jinni mondejar would be in the rp team, she has no wrist action whatsoever... whether it is service or spike, she does not know how to control a spike... i'd take semana over all the other setters that we have now... rubie de leon is so mediocre... i'd put nerissa bautista in the open hitter position and move jacqueline alarca in the middle blocker position simply because (since we're talking about height) she's one of the tallest and one of the most effective blocker and server in the uaap as of now... although i haven't or don't remember seeing su roces play... i think we can afford to have a small player on the line-up if the talent can compensate for it... semana for the national team!

semana's incredible setting ability and the incredible ability to fool blockers which i don't see and haven't seen in any other filipino setters more than compensates her height...

height ang kelangan pagdating sa international scene... kung dito sa pilipinas ok si semana pagdating sa international masyado na syang mahihirapan... gusto ba nating makita na puro baon ang palo ng kalaban dahil ke semana ipapadaan ang bola?..
