feeling ko yan ang problema ng brazil... masyadong maraming magaling na players.. kulang lang tlga sa exposure sa intl games... i personally like joycinha.. haha... kaso hanggang nanjan pa c sheila wala tlga syang chance, even natalia na OPP din ang laro is kinonvert na as OH kc locked in n tlga c sheila sa position n un.. in a tournament na wala si Sheilla, what's interesting is Jacqueline played opposite while Natalia still played as an OH. Parang mas natural kasi for Natalia to be an Opposite compared kay Jacqueline, ok naman si jacqueline pero mas finesse siya than power e, which is mas common sa outside hitters.

Jaqueline, just like natália and mari, used to play as opposite.

ooooh. I didn't know that. thanks.
Pero she's more natural as an OH. Unlike Mari, Natalia, and Sheilla na yung laro Opposite talaga. Mari has made the transition pero Natalia parang mas opposite pa rin siya talaga.

It doesn't actually work that way. Brazilian players are simply trained to be more all-around. Tandara also plays as OH on the club level, pero opposite siya sa national team. Mari was more powerful and peaked earlier than sheila kahit na magkasing-edad sila. She could have been locked in the opposite position, but she was still converted. Jaqueline started as an opposite as well (even star setter fernanda venturini too, lol). It makes for a nice strategy too kasi if sheila needs to be replaced, kukunin na lang nila si natália, tandara or even jaqueline and mari. These girls can receive too. Now i'm not sure why joycinha wasn't given much playing time sa national time. Maybe masiado siyang emo and she fumbles, though magaling siya talaga sa club level. feeling ko yan ang problema ng brazil... masyadong maraming magaling na players.. kulang lang tlga sa exposure sa intl games... i personally like joycinha.. haha... kaso hanggang nanjan pa c sheila wala tlga syang chance, even natalia na OPP din ang laro is kinonvert na as OH kc locked in n tlga c sheila sa position n un.. anyways, hoping pa din ako na bra vs usa ang finals... hahaha

Hehe! Hindi naman literal na emo, but not a few brazilians can contain their nerves come crunch time. Mari can be stern-faced but she cracked big time noong semis ng 2004 olympics against russia (she was an opposite hitter at that time pa). Match point na sila against russia but she piled up on error points and eventually the russians won that set and the game. She wasn't able to recover from her dissapointment in herself come next game (bronze medal match), that she had to be replaced by bía. I'm thinking joyce is a bit like that too.

Well, natália is young still... I believe zé roberto has natália's weakness in mind, which is why sassá is still in the team. ooooh. I didn't know that. thanks. Pero she's more natural as an OH. Unlike Mari, Natalia, and Sheilla na yung laro Opposite talaga. Mari has made the transition pero Natalia parang mas opposite pa rin siya talaga.

I'm excited for Cuba though. At least nag-iimprove. Yun ang gusto ko, for all teams to bring their A-Game. Kahit China, medyo umaayos na din ulit. Heck, even Thailand (although di ganun kalalim bench nila).
I like Tandara more than Joycinha. Ewan ko lang. Si Paolo, parang since na-injure di niya na nakuha form niya (except dun sa first few games nung nakaraan na grand prix).

Lol. Napaisip ako kung sino si paolo. Cuba has great players now. Former bench players cleger, palacio and silva can penetrate almost any block, tapos magaling na blocker pa si silie.
Anyhoohoo, just for fun, who are your favorite active outside hitters and why? ;D

Watching Thailand lately, sobrang nakakainis/nakakatuwa/nakakainggit sila. They play so "Asian", which is actually one of the most entertaining volleyball formats.
ako naman:
Bosetti Piccinini, kahit pababa na yung laro niya Jacqueline Baranska Yimei Wang
