last year, halos hindi ko napansin ang results ng grand prix dahil sa world championships. i mean, kanila na ang grand prix, basta ba't sa brazil ang world championship. ^^
kaso sabay namang na-injure ang dalawang kulasa...
kung sasali ang italy sa montreux this year, malamang e makikita natin ang mga up-and-coming players nila. there's a lot of them actually, but for now, sila del core at piccinini ang pinaka-stable na OH nila. valentina fiorin used to be there, but i don't know why she's no longer part of the team. does anyone here know? si costagrande ay lampas 30 na rin 'di ba?
dati akong maka-china, pero nang palitan no'ng pumalit kay chen zhong he ang style ng laro nila e napangitan na ako sa kanila. hehehe! ngayon, maka-brazil na ako. yehey!
as for erika coimba, i was wishing that they call her back to to fill in for mari and paula, kaya lang si fernanda garay ang nakuha.

hay naku. ok na yung nakalipas ah. im sad kasi talo sila last year. siguro not their year lng. bawi na lng ang Brazil ngayong 2011. siguro naman ok na sila Mari at Paula so contender na naman ulit ang Brazil at alam ko na magstestep-up ang ibang players come crucial moments ng laro.

Actually mas sayang yung loss ng USA sa Japan in World Championships. Magandang pabaon sana yun kay Logan Tom, Heather Bown and Stacy Sykora, nasilat pa. Hehe
Saw some clips of Carolina Costagrande for Dinamo Moscow. Actually best part of her game is reception and defense. Ok din siya sa attacking. Costagrande-Del Core would be perfect. Medyo nawawala na yung galing ni Picci ngayon eh

any news about the cuban team? I missed the likes of regla torres, regla bell, yumilka ruiz etc. young Cuban team line up ngayon. di na naglalaro ang mga veterans. pero ok din naman ang play kaya lng parang same lng eh. parang di lumelevel sa ibang teams ang Cuba. hope they do good sa Grand Prix. |

China announces women’s national team for 2011
Beijing, China, April 1, 2011 –The Chinese Volleyball Association formally announced their women’s squad for the 2011 season on Friday.
The 20 players come from nine clubs and have an average height of 1.87 meters and an average age of 22 years-old. The youngest player is Yang Jie, just 17 years from Shanghai Dunlop club. 15 of the 20 players will now travel to Southern Fujian Province for closed training.
The squad is made up of many of the members of the 2010 national team with only seven new inclusions. They are setters Mi Yang (22-years-old, 1.80m)and Wang Na (21, 1.78m), opposites Qiu Yanan (26, 1.81) and Zeng Chunlei (22, 1.87), libero Shan Danna(20, 1.68), middle blockers Yang Junjing (21, 1-90m) and Yang Zhou
The side has a busy schedule for the year with six weeks’ training from April 5-May 24 in Southern China before participating in the Montreux Volley Masters in Switzerland from June 7-12, the FIVB Volleyball Grand Prix 2011 from August 5-28 and the Asian Women’s Championship in Chinese Taipei from September 15-23.
Coach Yu Juemin noted that the most important outing for the national team is the Asian Championship in Chinese Taipei in September as only the top three can qualify for the FIVB World Cup in Japan from which acts as one of the qualification tournaments for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The roster is:
Setters: Wei Qiuyue, Mi Yang and Wang Na
Opposites: Qiu Yanan, Yin Na, Zeng Chunlei, Zhang Lei,
Middle Blockers: Xue Ming, Ma Yunwen, Xu Yunli, Yang Junjing and Yang Zhou
Wing Spikers: Wang Yimei, Hui Ruiqi, Yang Jie, Chen Liyi, Fan Linlin
Liberos: Zhang Xian, Wang Qian, Shan Danna

why am i not looking forward to this chinese team?
nawala na ang kinang para sa akin. i guess since they lost the asian championships two years ago, ang tingin ko na lang sa kanila ay parang netherlands--second-rate na lang with one or two players sticking out.
costagrande is tall and all-around. the last time i watched a video of hers was when she was still playing for scavolini pesaro. i really can't understand why she's not on the national team. noon sanang sa olympics e imbis na si secolo ang kinuha e, siya na lang sana. malamang naka-abot pa sa semis ang italy. hindi naman na issue ang nationalitiy niya, 'di ba?

Hindi sila pwede magsabay ni Aguero. Rule yan sa FIVB na bawal magsabay ang dalawang (2) Naturalized citizens. Costagrande is Argentinian while Aguero (obviously) is Cuban. However, dahil wala na si Aguero sa Italy NT, pwede na si Costaagrande.
For me, mas malaki ang maitutulong ni Aguero sa Italy NT than Costagrande.
Why?
Costa is a better receiver admittedly, Aguero the better attacker. Aguero can also set. Italy has excellent receivers in Piccinini and Del Core. Putting Costa in MIGHT disrupt the Italian system (near the net short receive) that has worked for the last 4 years (Picci and Del Core doing the receiving). Aguero's presence was integral. She was the OH/Opp. She served as the 2nd/auxilliary setter to Lo Bianco kung 1st ball nakuha ni Lo Bianco. FYI, Aguero was one of the 2 setters in the 6-2 formation during Cuba's dominance in International Volleyball in the Late 90's to 2000 so she's no push over sa setting.
Funny thing, when the United States defeated Italy in the quarterfinals of Beijing Olympiad, Aguero was the serving target for the Americans. Natawa ako dito. It was mentioned by one of NBC's commentator. Sinabi daw ni Lang Ping.

baka naman off lang ang reception ni aguero that tym... i think aguero is a well rounded player... sana bumalik sya sa NT kc iba tlga sya altho ok naman c ortolani..
