I'd rather see Hooker skip Grand Prix in preparation for the World Cup. Mas important yung World Cup kasi 3 automatic berths to the Olympics will be up for grabs.
Gusto ko si Destinee Hooker. She's a rare find for USA volleyball. Mahirap mahigitan ang kanyang athleticism. Too bad she can't receive as good as Tom, kundi, patay ibang teams. But then again, she's still very young and it probably helped too that she's an OH receiver for her previous Italian team Scavolini Pesaro.
Sana mabigyan ng playing time si Nicole Fawcett as the opposite while Hooker is resting. Magaling din si Nicole Fawcett, big arm. I am a fan since her Penn State days in College.
Kung injured man si Alisha Glass, may Nellie Spicer naman. I really like Spicer's play. Ambilis. And I read somewhere that the recent NCAA Player of the year awardee, Carli Lloyd of University of California-Berkeley, is also a contender for the setting position. She's like Alisha Glass, tall but a quick setter. She's a decent blocker.
Speaking of blocking, I think Harmotto needs to improve on that department. Dun siya naungusan ni Foluke Akinradewo eh. But Harmotto-Akinradewo combo is nuts! I love their quick plays.

Speaking of OHs...
I think Brazil has the best OH combo in the world. Mari-Jacq/Mari-Paula/Paula-Jacq. Heck, may Natalia pa. The problem though is that Mari, Jacq and Paula are all 27-28 years old. They'll be 30 after the Olympics. You know what I mean.
USA naman is they live and die with Logan Tom on the left. Without Tom, patay. Tom-Larson is the best combo the US can have. As soon as Tom retires, mukhang mahihirapan ang USA. Hodge needs to improve big time! The good thing though is that Larson NOW is way way way better than Larson 2 years ago. So it could be a good sign.
Walang maaasahan ang USA volleyball from the recent NCAA grads, OH-wise. The best one that I can think of is Alix Klineman, 6'4 OH from Stanford University. Her passing and receiving is topnotch. Problem though is she's been injury-prone her 4 years with Stanford. Bad thing pa is shoulder niya ang na i injure. And she needs to fix her armswing. Sobrang unconventional ng attacking niya. Check out this video para may idea kayo sa sinasabi ko ->
Russia naman. What if Gamova and Sokolova retire after the olympics? Kosheleva though is promising.
Italy? Wala akong idea kung may mga batang Open Hitters sila. Sila Picci, Del Core lang alam ko.

Hahaha. Actually I am a USA-Brazil fan. Yes yes, malayo pa ang Grand Prix. Actually, sa napansin ko (kagaya dati), kung may bigger event after the Grand Prix, usually nakikita natin ang Top Teams with Top players sa finals na ng Grand Prix should they qualify. So with the World Cup happening months after the Grand Prix, mukhang magiging star-studded na naman ang Finals ng Grand Prix. I'd quote Katy Perry, "Baby you're a firework." LOL ;D

i will agree with you that Brazil has the most effective OH combos. i'm a big fan of Brazil. ehehe. i'm deeply saddened when Mari got injured the last Grand Prix and they weren't able to defend the title. But coming this edition, the lineup is complete and players are very ready to play their A game. I'm looking forward to this and hopefully Brazil will snatch the title again.

Klineman is a good OH ha. Pero she's needs international exposure to be part of the national team. I mean the level of play in the international scene is way different from that of the collegiate level. but hope she'll be an option because considering her skills in playing, maybe she'ss fit just right for the NT.

i don't think Erika Coimbra will be part of the national team. malakas na kasi ang line up at ala ng bakante para i fill in pa ang iba. unless talaga me major adjustment sa line up ng players. ehehe
