*as usual, the floor defense of ust in the first two sets was incredibly annoying and frustrating... on the 3rd and 4th set, we saw people (other than angeli tabaquero) really dive for the ball, thus it sparked a good offensive run for ust...

*i think feu got a few lucky breaks on the fifth set... i was really praying for a ust win...

*i think the coaching staff should have made tan set the whole game... i normally criticize tan's game and praise dimaculangan's, but as what i've seen a while ago, dimaculangan's sets were too high... they were very easily read by the opposing blockers... with that said, i think that tan should be trained more intensively as a setter, because a tall setter is really an asset... enjoy na enjoy ako sa hulog knina ni tan, npa wow ako tlga nun... hahah!

*i literally wanted to shoot hannah mance in the first two sets... because she ended being more of a liability on the blocking department rather than an asset... but in all fairness to her, she showed good blocking on the 3rd and 4th set... ntuwa din ako dun sa isang spike nia na sa backrow ng feu npunta...

*correct me if i'm wrong, but i think that lazaro seemed a bit more effective than curato in the libero position... curato often undergoes mental lapses which is a big no-no for a libero...

*tabaquero really played well today, she will be the top gun of the ust squad next year... i'll be anticipating that...

*i have been criticizing daquis often these past few days, but let me commend her spirit in today's game... even if i wasn't able to watch it live, i was able to feel her hustle, spirit and drive to win the game... you can really feel her passion...

*during the middle half of the 2nd set, i resigned to the fact that perhaps feu is really a stronger team... i even lost my nervousness because i thought that its already over... but during the middle stages of the 3rd set, and into the fourth and final set, i realized that ust CAN really beat feu...

**in conclusion, it was a game worth losing for the ust lady tigers, because they have nothing to be ashamed of. it was one of the best uaap games i've watched... i have never seen aiza maizo or lilet mabbayad play, but from what i've read in forums, they are really really good players, so it seemed like ust suffered the biggest loss this season... anyway, with those things said, ust should now focus on doing better next season!

i'm not really infavor of curato as the libero. from vleague till this uaap season, she's still not comfortable with her position. lazaro amidst of short exposure, did good.
iv just remember tabaquero's performance in the last vleague. she did good in defending the back row (as if it was solely assigned to her). talking about the position, The younger balse is worth to mention. it's just that, if the others (who left) are still on the team, the result of today's game would be different.
it's not to take away from current USTWVT, its just that i believe, last season's team is stronger.

anyway, it was a great fight.

Yes.. I know centoni. But right now the offense of Italy is centered on AGUERO. Thats why Italy was crowned European Champions and aguero the MVP award.

My Other Two Cents...

The reason why UST lost was because of the following:

1. FEU just had too many offensive options. They run a 6-2 play, so the team will always have three attackers infront of the net. This really confused the blockers of UST.

How to remedy: When serving always give the ball to the setter at the back. this will limit the number of players that can spike to two. I noticed that this was the gameplan of UST. And torrijos was partucularly good at it.

2. UST lacked a 4th offensive option. Sets were only given to three players (bernal, balse, and tabaquero). Sometimes they would give torrijos a backset. But she had problems scoring bec the defense of FEU was spectacular.

How to remedy: They should have at least trained joey and hannah to spike the ball better.

3. FEU was a better balanced team. Their offence was as strong as their defence. UST is offennsively better individually (balse is better than morada, bernal is better than daquis, etc...) but the floor defence of UST sucks, especially Bernal. She always end up just standing there and staring. She has slow reflexes.

How to remedy: Put curato inside everytime bernal is in the backline. Imagine having Lazaro and curato both at the back.

4.Conspiracy theory.

I believe the line up of UST next year will be

OH1-tabaquero
OH2-guiterrez
MB1-mance
MB2-maizo
Utility-tan
Setter-Dimaculangan

I think it was on purpose that maizo and vida werent able to play this season. I think coach august thought of the future. He knows that Bernal and Balse will be leaving this season, so he prolonged the playing years of maizo, mabbayad and vida. To give ust some luster once tabaquero and tan leaves the school.

walang choice si coach august kasi may academic deficiency si Maizo at Gutierrez. They had to seat out so that they can concentrate on their studies. Anyway, I'm sure UST will be back with vengeance in the Shakey's V-Leagues and next UAAP season. Lalong mas malakas ang team.

It's a nice game...ganda.. Nandun talaga yung desire ng Lady Tams to win and it's served as a sweet revenge to their Season 69 finals setback last year..
