This was the winning photo of the Pulitzer Prize taken during the Sudan famine of 1994. It depicted a child crawling towards an United Nations food camp, merely a kilometer away. The vulture, standing nearby, is waiting for the child to die so that it can eat it. This picture shocked the whole world. No one knows what happened to the child, including the photographer Kevin Carter who left the place as soon as the photograph was taken. Three months later he(Kevin Carter) committed suicide due to depression. Im simply blown away by this picture. It simply tells me how lucky we are.

I think the child is already dead, the vulture is just waiting for the photographer to go away... hmmmm... Why did the photographer took the picture in the first place? If the child is still alive when he took the picture, why commit suicide afterwards if he can help the child and nurture him immediately upon seeing that situation...

grabe, I would really say na we are very lucky. Daming beses ko na narinig ung story behind that pic. and twice ko palang siya nakita, but still di ko parin matiis and wonder why he(Kevin Carter) didn't help the child. hayy, buhay nga naman, hirap.

kasi parang huli na niya siguro narealize na he could've helped the child, pero it was too late. nanalo na siya ng prize and all, pero namatay parin ung bata wala siyang ginawa na kahit ano. he's haunted by the picture din. siguro sobrang nagsink sakanya yung nangyari, na depress siya ayun, and committed suicide.

Carter didnt carry the girl to the camp but after taking the shot, he chased the bird away and watched as the girl continued her struggle. He sat under a tree, lit a cigarette, talked to God and cried, eh was depressed afteward. His friends got killed in the war, took drugs and had monitary problems. Committed suiside by attaching a garden hose to the exhaust pipe and run it to the passenger-side window. Then he put music on his Walkman and lay over on his side, using the knapsack as a pillow......
