PSEP-online.com:
UST is one team that knows how to come back. Their recent game with Adamson is a living testament that UST Lady Tigers never quit and they never give up.
But even that has limitations, against a team like San Sebastian Lady Stags which is truly a no-nonsense team, this poses a problem. Even the thousands of UST fans that came to support their team, it wasnt enough to distract the San Sebastian team who came with their own smaller group of fans and drum squad as well.
San Sebastian, when you look at it under a microscope, you find that they have almost everything they need to have a great team. Living testament to this is that three of their players are on the top of individual standings in the league. Even the league MVP comes from the Lady Stags.
So honestly, the Lady Stags are the favorite now to win the crown come sunday. It means that UST has to analyze today's game quickly and find remedies for their pressing problems and address them quickly and do the necessary adjustments come game day. I believe they can do it. They have in the past so I don't see why they cant do it on sunday.
If PSEP was coaching the UST Lady Tigers, here would be are recommendations so that they have a possibility to win on sunday.
1. May Jean Balse and Venus Bernal must score at least 16 points each. This is to ensure that they negate any advantage Laurence Ann Latigay and Suzanne Roces and even Rysabelle Devanadera will have on the game
2. Maika Ortiz must score at least 8 points. According to statistics, when Maika Ortiz score at least 8 points, its very likely they will win. Don't ask me why, its based on statistics.
3. Denise Tan has to step up his sets. Denise should learn to calm down and set her team properly. IF she has good sets for her teammates, good chances to score which means, UST has a high chance of winning. She must lessen her errors as well. She has to keep up with SSC setter Charisee Vernon Ancheta.
4. Jessica Curato and Venus Bernal must DIG. They must make sure that there are no loose ends. If they can get to the balls more then chances are greater in having a good set play.
5.The UST bench must deliver. UST has a tendency to run out of steam, and when you play only six to eight players a game, it tends to be that way, players on the UST bench must be ready to contribute and step up.
6. Aiza Maizo, May Jean Balse and Maika Ortiz (All three are in the top ten in the league for blocking) must BLOCK and they must block consistently or at least enough to frustrate San Sebastian. After Rysabelle Devanadera, the San Sebastian team doesnt really have effective blockers, only role players that serve as blockers.
7. Show SSC no mercy, even in serving. Aiza Maizo is one of the league's best servers along with Venus Bernal. They must show San Sebsatian all that they have on sunday because there might be no game on tuesday if the UST team fails.
8. To counteract SSC's great serves, UST must receive the ball well. Jessica Curato along with May Jean Balse and Venus Bernal must work extra hard in making sure they negate any advantage SSC has on their serves.
9. The San Sebastian Lady Stags are the best spikers in the league, however, UST Lady Tigers are the best blockers in the league as well after DLSU who is in the running for 3rd place. So UST should maximize this and make sure they frustrate the SSC team's spikes and serves.
10. UST is the best server team in the league after DLSU who is the stats leader. UST must be able to make sure they can increase by 20% the number of ace serves they usually have to maximize their chances of winning Game 2.
