two cents:
Over-all, a very exciting game, quite evenly matched, if not for some turn of luck, it could easily went the distance.
Fille Cainglet - continues to amaze me, even though, in my opinion, she's a lil off (compared to their last game); her hits are a bit softer, and some went a bit wider
Ferrer - same with Ferrer, as good/decent as she has played, she was way better the last game. Understandably, mejo predictable pa rin ung mga sets... but i don't blame her, looking at the defensive pattern, mejo kalat pa rin ang team after reception, as a result, there were no option for her but to set the ball to whoever is ready then;
Micmic - intimidation factor. nuff said.
Soriano - not the usual explosive Charo we used to see (maybe coz of the absence of Bello as setter) but still dependable (especially in a rookie-laden team as now)
Gretchen Ho - this is her welcome game. That one perfectly-executed quick hit speaks volumes on this girl's potential. Like the other rookie Cainglet, you can see na "may puso" din maglaro tong player na to. expect to see more of her in the coming games.
Bea Pascual - I still believe in this girl. Even though she seems to have trouble recovering from her injury, Ateneo needs her height and blocking skills. I've seen this girl play pre-injury, and di mo matatawaran ang sipag (talon ng talon a la Micmic); especially cum UAAP time with no micmic and charo around, Bea should and will deliver for the Ateneo team.
Gervacio - was absent in this game. unlike the previous ones where she truly shone, she should have been given more playing time
THINGS I wish to see in the coming games for Ateneo:
- defense becoming better and better...
- Cainglet hitting the ball harder, more consistently, and a few variation... maybe practice the drop ball to confuse the blockers
- Gretchen Ho quick plays!
- more playing time for Acevedo - an all-around player
- more sting on the jump serves from Ferrer, Gervacio, Cainglet?, Soriano... it would be interesting to see Ateneo as the best serving/jump-serving team..
- maybe throw in one or two combination plays...
I'm crossing my fingers... but from the way things are shaping up, it seems that:
CSB & Lyceum - are down and out
La Salle - is a shoo-in
Adamson, FEU - looking strong to take the 2nd and 3rd spot
San Sebastian, UST, with ADMU not far behind - will slug it out for the 4th semis spot
