The game was spectacular I disagree with the earlier posting that Ateneo will not make it to the semis... From the looks of it, kaya natalo ang ateneo was because of poor reception and/or errors. Stephanie Gabriel as a libero could have been better but you can't totally blame her dahil grabe naman tlga ang mga spikes coming from La Salle. Looking at the two teams yesterday, you can very well see na organized ang La Salle, everyone knows everyone, it's just a matter of executing the plays in their bag On the otherhand, on the Ateneo side, mejo scrappy, at times, you can see na "nagkakapaan" pa ang setter and hitter when it comes to middle/quick plays, hence di ganun kaganda ang execution. In my opinion, ATENEO has a chance to make it to the semis. As was said, De La Salle is by far the most formidable team in the league, and Ateneo is the only one who gave them a real challenge. We cannot stress more the fact that Ateneo is banking on their rookies. Naturally, the rookies will need time and experience to get used to the higher level of play in the league. And seeing that the rookies are getting fielded most of the time, it's just a matter of time (i'd say a few more games) before we can see their true potential. Meaning, we expect the errors to come down, game after game. Things Ateneo can improve on: Sets - esp. sa quick plays/middle, mejo nagkakapaan pa c Laborte/Soriano with Jam's sets. A few fakes wouldn't hurt, esp. since mejo predictable at times ung play ng Ateneo. Bea Pascual - bakit nila di pinapasok c Bea? With her height and blocking skills, it would be nice to see her side by side with Mic-Mic blocking the attacks from the opponent. They have a bunch of good spikers, Soriano, of course, Gervacio!, Cainglet!, and there are the veterans Acevedo and Quimpo as support. Ateneo needs Pascual's height at the front, lalo na come UAAP time. Floor defense - mejo scrappy at poor ng spacing. Several times in the match, mablo-block ni Alarca ung ball and it will just land on the farther side of Ateneo's court uncontested, since lahat cla eh nasa isang kumpol. I'm looking forward to Ateneo's next games. There's so much room for improvement. Give them a few games, and we'll see what this team are truly capable of.

I agree with 9balls that Ateneo needs to improve on their reception.

@ 9 balls
masyado hasty generalization mo na Ateneo is the only one who gave la salle a real challenge hindi pa nakakalaban ng la salle ang other teams, like AdU and UST. nene bautista is back and so is the double b. and as far as i can remember, the feu-dlsu game was also exciting.
as for ateneo, they are banking more on the rookies, which is a good thing, but they also have cara acevedo and bea pascual they have been stagnant in this conference.
