The setter can only set well if the receive of the libero is good. I saw the NCR team played before, ang galing ng recieve ni mel gohing, pasa agad kay Jem, that'ts why Jem could set well. Haay sana Ateneo na lang si Gohing.
Eto namang La Salle they will get the good players of HS tapos ibababangko lang para di na mapakinabangan ng ibang team.

Lady Archers firm up Final 4 bid, whip Eagles
Games on Sunday (San Juan Arena) 2 p.m. – St. Benilde vs FEU 4 p.m. – Adamson vs UST
Three-time champion La Salle zeroed in on the first semifinal berth as it thwarted Ateneo’s tough stand in the third and fourth sets to fashion out a 25-21, 25-15, 21-25, 26-24 victory this afternoon for its fourth straight win in the Shakey’s V-League second conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
Jacqueline Alarca’s block off Ateneo rookie Angeline Gervacio clinched the victory for the Lady Archers, who held off their rivals in the first two sets, stumbled in the third but scrambled in the fourth frame to clinch their fourth win and keep their unblemished slate.
“They seemed to relax in the third and fourth sets. Our reception loosened up a bit that’s why our offense suffered,” said La Salle assistant coach Noel Orcullo, who took over from head coach Ramil de Jesus. “It’s a good thing that Jacq (Alarca) stepped up.”
Earlier, San Sebastian College picked up its second win in row after an opening game setback, beating Lyceum, 25-18, 25-19, 25-20, to stay behind unbeaten La Salle in the early going of the league sponsored by Shakey’s Pizza and organized by Sports Vision.
Alarca’s final block was her fifth in the day as she finished with 20 hits while Manilla Santos added 14 points and the duo of Stephanie Mercado and Celine Hernandez tossed in 10 hits apiece for the Lady Archers, who skipped the first conference with the UST Tigresses to rebuild the team following the graduation of key players.
Charo Soriano, Ateneo’s guest alumna, combined with guest player Michelle Laborte and rookie Fille Cainglet and Gervacio in the third frame as the Lady Eagles foiled La Salle’s sweep bid. But the Taft-based spikers regrouped in the fourth, racing to a 19-10 advantage on Alarca’s service ace. The Eagles, however, pounced on their rivals’ poor reception and took 14 of the next 19 points to force a tie at 24 on Laborte’s block and a wide hit by the Archers.
Laborte finished with 19 hits while Soriano and Cainglet added 12 and 11 points, respectively, for Ateneo, which dropped to third to last in the eight-team field with a 1-2 card.
The SSC-Lyceum game will be telecast on NBN-4 starting at 2 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday) with replays to be shown on both Viva Prime Channel on Destiny Cable and Makisig Channel on Sky Cable. The La Salle-Ateneo duel will be aired on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the league takes a break on Friday to give way to the observance of All Saint’s Day with action to resume on Sunday pitting St. Benilde against Lyceum at 2 p.m. and UST versus Adamson at 4 p.m.
Guest player Suzanne Roces, back from a stint with the RP team in the Asian Beach Games in Indonesia, came away with 18 hits for the Lady Stags, who remained far from reaching peak form two weeks into the single round elimination round of the tournament backed by Active White skin whitening products, Mikasa and Accel.
“What I need to see is consistency from my players. (Lou Ann) Latigay and Roces are still far from their fighting form,” said SSC coach Roger Gorayeb, who also drew 13 hits from Rysabelle Devanadera. Joy Cases, Lyceum’s guest entry, scattered 12 hits while alumna Dahlia Cruz added 10 points for the Lady Pirates, who took their third straight setback.
Lyceum tried to avert a sweep by surging ahead at 19-18 in the third set but Roces took over for SSC, anchoring a 5-0 blitz by the four-time NCAA champions to regain the lead en route to the victory. Roces atoned for a reception error that gave Lyceum its 20th point with a powerful kill that closed out the 1:25-hour encounter.
The Lady Stags, one of the top contenders in the league, hardly missed the services of guest alumna Jinni Mondejar, out with a shoulder injury.

I do think that Ateneo not fielding a thai import is a good choice for them. Laborte is one of the best players in the Philippines but thats not enough to elevate their rankings. From this moment, we can say now that Ateneo will not move forward to semis.

from the start, strong ang defense ng dslu... kaya nahirapan ang ateneo... but i think babawi pa sila...
