MANILA, Philippines - Ateneo de Manila University, Lyceum of the Philippines University, and Far Eastern University won their matches on Tuesday in the quarterfinals round of Shakey's V-League Season 5 at The Arena in San Juan.
The Ateneo Lady Eagles downed College St. Benilde Lady Blazers (25-12, 25-9, 25-17) for their second straight victory in the round, according to a V-League statement.
Thai import Em-orn Phanusit was at the forefront of the Lady Eagles offense, hitting 17 markers, while Ma. Carmina Acevedo added 10 kills for a 13-point output as they duplicated their straight-set victory over the Lyceum Lady Pirates last Sunday.
In the second game, the Lady Pirates downed the University of San Jose-Recoletos' bid to keep in step with Ateneo. The Pirates won in four sets (26-24, 25-27, 25-17, 25-13) over the Cebuanos.
