wouldn't that be too dangerous? i would understand it for countries who have an easier path in their continental qualifiers, but for russia it's far too risky. back home, they'd have to play the likes of serbia, poland, france, turkey and germany. if they don't qualify then, they'd have to place in the top three to get to the last olympic qualifiers, and that isn't easy. now isn't the best year to develop their youth players. So baka din si Alekno is hiding some plays (or even players like di niya masyado ginamit mga natural and younger OHs niya)too. This is probably just preparations for them to scout other teams and develop their youth players. I think a year is enough for Russia to get better unless di sila magqualify sa olympics haha.

It's a gamble but then Russia's natural OHs(except kay not-so-good form Biryukov and a semi-retired Tetyukhin ) are not even better than Mikhaylov. Most of the OHs of Russia are not true scorers and not even great at floor defense. World Class OHs should have receiving efficiency of over 40% yet waley or kung decent lang receiving mo, atleast dambuhala naman sa scoring skills pero hindi. I mean kung ang isang opposite, madali lang naging OH, it only means one thing, mababa ang standard ng mga russian OHs. Anyway, I guess they did not expect Poland to lose to Italy. That for me is the bad case scenario.

Absolutely true. It's more likely then that either alekno had no other choice but to take to japan whom he took for he had no other choicd or that he made some honest mistakes. wouldn't that be too dangerous? i would understand it for countries who have an easier path in their continental qualifiers, but for russia it's far too risky. back home, they'd have to play the likes of serbia, poland, france, turkey and germany. if they don't qualify then, they'd have to place in the top three to get to the last olympic qualifiers, and that isn't easy. now isn't the best year to develop their youth players. Simpri!! But i feel that the other teams are vindicated because the poles have been too thingyy, lalo na sina drzyzga (akala mo ang galing-galing), kurek at nowakowski. Anyway, talagang kaloka kasi ang FIVB rule change regarding sa world cup qualifications. Watching the russia-usa match now. I thought i just saw some taunting smirks and stares from muserskiy towards anderson. He must've been trying to get into anderson's head!

Anyway, sino-sino na qualified sa Rio?
Men: Brazil, USA, Italy Women: Brazil, China, SerbiaThanks. Akala ko yung napagchampionan ng France makes them to Olympics. Naku, so nanganganib pa pala ang Japan (for Women) to not to qualify?

That for me is the bad case scenario. Haha true. Ganyan talaga, proud kasi mga russians kaya unlike italy and Poland di sila magnanaturalize ng citizens na di part ng dating USSR.That for me is their short term solution. Baka matagalan pa before magkaroon ng local OH ang russia na world class talaga. Just look at Zenit Kazan, their best two OHs are imports(Anderson and Leon).

Adenizia/Carol are looking like better options to me than her sa Rio pero baka she stays sa roster for experience or sana down time niya lang ito at wag permanent like Mari and Paula.

wasn't able to follow the last week of competition ng World Cup. busy sa life. ehehe. Sa previous post ko, Italy and Russia may have the chance to qualify at tama ako sa isa, Italy nga. I think maganda ang mga continental qualifiers for the Olympics. kasi ang dami daming teams na deserving to be part of the group. Kung sana mag expand ang Olympics from 8 to 12 teams mas maganda at excitng ang mga laro at quality matches ang mapapanood natin.

I feel for Russia. Too bad di sila makaporma sa mga higher ranked teams. Kung sana Serbia o France ang lumaban sa World Cup. may ganap pa siguro. pero they are the defending champions so they need to work double time kung gusto nilang makuha ulit ang first honors sa Olympics 2016.

aren't there fourteen teams? 1 - the host 2 - from the world cup 2 - from norceca 2 - from south america 2 - from asia 1 - from africa 2 - from europe 2 - from the intercontinental qualifiers EDIT: 12 lang pala! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volleyball_at_the_2016_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Men%27s_qualification1- the host 2- from the world cup 1 - from norceca 1 - from south america 1 - from asia 1 - from africa 1 - from europe 3 - from the world qualifiers 1 - from the intercontinental qualifiers the last two qualifiers are interesting. it seems that the fivb wants to create more opportunities to have a second african team at the olympics with the intercontinental qualifiers (only three continents represented here actually: africa, north america and south america). paano naman ang asia?? Kung sana mag expand ang Olympics from 8 to 12 teams mas maganda at excitng ang mga laro at quality matches ang mapapanood natin.
