Let's see...i'm not 100% sure, si kumamae yata ay hanggang sa sydney olympic cycle lang. Miyuki takahashi, my favorite jap of her time, stayed until past the athens games. Otomo definitely played with takahashi, but with kumamae i don't remember. (By deduction lang ito a, hindi by memory: based purely on age, it's likely that otomo didn't start with kumamae. It could have been hiromi suzuki.) Sinong maliit? Si kaoru sugayama? Yeah, i think they did play together. Nurse, Otomo was born in 1982 or 1981. i think the junior games you're referring to was held prior to the sydney games sa dagupan, tama ba? That would make her young enough to be part of the junior team. I really don't remember anyone from all the teams then, although ang sabi ng kaibigan ko ay kasama si zhao rui rui sa mga naglaro dito (what an honor! oha?). HAHAHA! I just got back to international ulit nung may pinalabas sa Channel 13 na volleyball na ginawa ata sa Xavier University. Dun ko na nakilala ang Russia (Gamova, Safronova, not sure kung Sokolova na sya, yung may 'kornikova' sa name etc.), Brazil (Luciana, Sassa, Coimbra, Leila, Virna, Fabiana na sub pa lang), Germany (Grun, Veh, Sylvester), China (Hao Yang, Riri Zao, Feng Kun), at SoKor (Choi). Then the next year, I guess, was the Athens Olympics na CHI vs RUS na lang ang napanood ko. (Teka, kiber nyo ba sa history ko ne? HAHAHA)

Hehehehe! Teka, halo-halo na. Mahirap nga naman minsang maghalukay ng alaala. I'll give this a try: 2002 was the last time russia played here, i believe. Yes, i remember gamova and safronova, but there was no sokolova then (di pa sila nagkakasundo ni karpol) at lalong walang kournikova dahil tennis ang sport no'n. Hehehe! Godina was there and so was artamonova. The setters were grachova and chukanova, at ang mb's ay sina tischenko at belikova. Germany, brazil and japan were the other teams in that pool. Ure right about sylvester, grün and veh. Grün ata played opposite then, and veh was her alternate. Sylvester was an mb along with kulakova. The outside hitters were bouagaa and thumm. Brazil had new faces then (no leila, virna, walewska, erika, fofão, raquel, etc.) some of whom would become the future stars: paula, sassá, sheilla, valeskinha, luciana and marcelle. The veterans where karin rodrigues and arlene xavier. As for japan, ang naaalala ko lang ay sina takahashi, sano at kodama (setter; takesh!ta wasn't around).

'Yung sa xavier, baka practice lang nila 'yon. Doon ka ba nag-aral? Pa-autograph! 2004 wgp, we hosted brazil, korea, poland and the dominican republic. Zé roberto took over from marco motta as head coach, and he took with him a really good squad, including fernanda venturini. Ure right, fabiana was relegated to the bench; however, in the leg here, walewska was injured kaya si fabiana ang nag-start. Heto yata 'yung lineup: érika, virna, sassá, elisangela, leila, bía, fofão, fernanda, arlene, valeskinha and fabiana (forgot who the sub mb was). Mari and walewska were in the sidelines. As for korea, yes, choi kwang hee was here, but didn't start. Han song yi, chang so yoon, ku min jung, jung dae young, kim sa nee and lee the other setter were also with the team. i don't believe we ever hosted feng kun and her chinese squad.

Juniors ata yun sir joda. Si Angelica Bigcas lang ang naalala kung naglaro sa ligang 'to. At syempre kulelat tayo sa standing. I believe Kumamae and Otomo did play together here sa PHI sa isang league ng World Grand Prix. 2004 ata kung di ako nagkakamali. they were both starters pero later that tournament di na nakalaro si Kumamae kasi nagkasakit ata.

Sir nurse, japan didn't play here in the 2004 wgp. It was brazil, poland, south korea and dominican republic. By 2004 kumamae was no longer in the team either. I don't remember which year exactly, but she did play here before the sydney games. Juniors ata yun sir joda. Si Angelica Bigcas lang ang naalala kung naglaro sa ligang 'to. naghalukay ako ng nakaraan. lol. both kumamae and otomo played and started in the 2002 wgp, including the manila leg (you were right there, sir nurse, except for the year). in 2003, both weren't there (kumamae, permanently i presume). in 2004, otomo returned.

Japan wasn't that spectacular that time. So-so lang. Pero ngayon 1 of the best teams na.

Oh you said it. They failed to qualify for the sydney games at pati sa korea ay hirap sila. May nabasa ako noon na comment ng isang japanese na his team sort of got stuck in their glory days before and kept insisting that their formula of fast, pesky and disciplined kind of volleyball with little emphasis on power would still work as it did before. Everyone got taller and stronger except the japanese team daw kaya nakulelat sila. I think he was right. The good thing though is that they changed. May mga growing pains though, and part of those were experimentations. One of those, i believe, was the backrow slide attack, which obviously now has fallen out of favor. Otomo herself did a couple of those and some club teams in brazil and italy even tried it.
