Okay. This is just in: Brazil eliminated France. Woohoo! And you know what's interesting? The leader of the other group, Argentina is said to have aimed to get the highest possible position in their grouping so as to avoid Brazil in the crossover. Ang malas! HAHA! Mas naging advantage pa ng Brazil na fourth place sila sa pool A. Argentina in the QF and either Russia or Canada sa Semis. Mas madaling landas kesa sa other pool.

I'm almost sure that Russia will take Canada. If they were in the other pool, the would have to face Italy, USA or Poland in the semis. And Russia is the defending champion. I think that that potential semis match against Russia will be as hard as it can get.
Sa Italian WVT, I think you're right about bringing in more experience. I'm just not sure if the Bosettis had been impressive enough. For sure, there was just too much rawness in the team. It's almost as if they took the Olympics for granted.

Yes. They were just too raw and lack the skills set to match against strong teams in their pool. Regroup na lang sila. Hopefully they will perform in future tournaments.
It's a neck to neck battle if ever Brazil and Russia face each other in the semis, a reminiscence of the London 2012 Finals.
Looks like Netherlands is poised to send Korea home. They are impressive in the first two sets containing Kim YK and other Korean attackers proving that they are the dark horse in this tournament.

True. Medyo minalas ang ARG because of BRA getting 4th. ARG has a very poor track record against BRA, but let's see, I hope to see a surprise from ARG. Sana mag-step up sina Poglagen and Lima. Also yung MB na sina Sole, Crer at Ramos.
If you have been following international volleyball for quite some time, I kind of expected this rise of CAN in the Men's side. He's a monster and look, he is even playing next season on Resovia, siya lang naman ang papalit kay Kurek. Also, magaling din si Gordon Perrin and surprising ang setter nila na si Sanders. Underrated. Remember, CAN just won FIVB World League Grp 2, so next year promoted na sila to Group 1, demoted naman ang AUS if I'm not mistaken.
Sa RUS naman, they have been quite on the downfall, the only time they've impressed was during the European Qualifiers, which they won. But honestly, knowing na during that time, some of their players were on melodonium, nababawasan ang pagtingin ko sa RUS, especially na state supported and doping incident.
Bakun didn't play during the CEV Cup finals against Calzedonia Verona kasi dahil sa doping, ayon sa chika. Basically, RUS has nothing new to show, si Kliuka lang ang pinakafresh na impressive talaga.
Sa POL vs USA, honestly wala akong feeling both teams. Hahaha! I hate Poland because of Kubiak, medyo walang manners, just look at the ending of their game with Iran. Even Kurek's attitude is horrid. This POL team is very different from the winning team of the World Championship last 2014.
Sa USA naman, si Russel and beast. Si Anderson, may games na di ganun kagaling, last game nga vs MEX walang puntos, tapos si Troy and naglaro starting 2nd set. But, I think they are strong as a team. They started the tournament shaky but pulled of 2 impressive win vs France and Brazil. Tapos medyo routine win vs Mex.I magine they lost 3 lost to CAN.
for POL vs USA, I bet USA will move forward, improving their record from the last Olympics wherein they lost to Italy in the Quarters.
Last ITA vs IRA. of course, I will choose ITA. That's my favorite team ever since bata pako. As in. Solid, parang sa UST lang. Hahahaha!!!
I even think ITA helped CAN win by fielding in Luca sa opposite instead of Ivan. Though magaling din naman si Vettori pero mas stable and ITA kapag si Zatsev and utility eh. Simone Gianneli is my favorite, so young but very talented, gwapo pa. Hahaha!!! Ang nakikita kong weakness ng ITA is yung middles actually. VS CAN nga they used Oleg Antonov as MB,eh ang laro nun Open hitter talaga.
So maybe, sinadya talaga ng ITA na natalo sa CAN to eliminate either FRA or BRA. Hahahah!!! I hope this don't bite them in the ass.
QUARTERFINALS
ITA vs IRA = my bet to win ITA POL vs USA = my bet to win USA CAN vs RUS = my bet to win CAN BRA vs ARG = my bet to win ARG
SEMIS (ang bet ko mangyari) ITA vs USA = my bet to win ITA CAN vs ARG = my bet to win kahit sino basta champion ITA. Hahahaha!!!

Breaking news: Netherlands got the first spot in the semis eliminating Korea 3-1. Impressive floor defense and blocking.
Yes. I also had that feeling na parang binigay ng ITA ang game nila sa CAN because chances are either Brazil or France lang ang makakapasok sa quarterfinals. On a lighter side, chance na yun ng mga second stringers to play a full set if not a full game kasi no bearing game na yun para sa kanila. Hope this will not retaliate back at them.
QF: ITA and IRI: more likely na ITA 'to. Pero sana IRI win play a notch higher compared sa pool matches nila. POL and USA: I bet POL will win this in a hard-fought style. Pero looking at USA, they're peaking at the right time CAN and RUS: gusto ko talaga na underdog ang Manalo so I'll go with CAN pero RUS always have some tricks up their sleeves. BRA and ARG: most likely BRA 'to kasi looking at their match ups, almost all if not all games BRA won over their South American rivals.
SEMIS: 1. ITA vs POL = POL 2. RUS vs BRA = BRA
Finals: POL vs BRA = BRA will win the gold medal match

They decided to rest Zaytsev daw too for the bigger more important matches. Apparently, there are some opinions that say it was Juantorena who needed the rest, not Zaytsev. Here are my predictions for the quarters: Argentina vs Brazil: Brazil will win (poor track record nga for Argentina against Brazil, especially on Brazil's home soil) Italy vs Iran: Italy Russia vs Canada: Russia (I agree with you guys about Canada getting better and better. I do think the middles are their problem, though their floor defense is superb and they have wing hitters who can finish off a counter attack. I'm giving this 54% for Russia, 46% for Canada) Poland vs USA: USA (I really don't like Kurek. I hope somebody castrates him in his sleep. Jokes. But that was a very ugly gesture he made against Iran. I also think USA's blocking will rattle Poland.)

Kapapanood ko lang ng France-Brazil match. My one big regret about France getting eliminated is that I don't get to see Ngapeth and Kubiak jerk each other away. I think they should both be banned from playing and just sent to Syria in the battlefront against ISIS.

Italy really has the luxury to use some of their players to play in the match against CAN. Well, it's part of the game and some players do some gestures to pump up themselves or taunt their opponents. HAHAHA!
Second semis spot went to USA after defeating Japan in 3 sets.
Now watching RUS vs SRB. And SRB is up two sets to none and leading early 11-8. Guess they will advance to the semis unless RUS gains momentum and turn the table around.

French team, especially Ngapeth are such sore losers. Ngapeth now says Italian team didn't do their best against CAN. Oh well, that's partly true but keep in mind that ITA's game against CAN is actually a no bearing game for ITA, and they earned that right to field in some of their second stringers by dominating teams like USA, FRA, BRA and MEX. Also, FRA needed to beat one of the strong team in their pool like BRA, USA or ITA to secure a quarterfinals slot, and they miserably failed. They got dominated by all those teams.
They should have controlled their own faith by winning their games and not blaming other teams for their failures. So much talk, na-overhype kasi. Ayan, lotlot tuloy.

China now leads Brazil in the last women's quarterfinals 2-1. Brazil needs to win the next set to extend it to a decider but China is on a roll right now, attacking in all cylinders. Their confidence is overflowing when they won the second set. If Brazil does not step their game up, China will send them packing. This young Chinese squad got all answers to Brazil's offense and defense while the Olympic champions are lost and in disarray. It's a see-saw battle in the fourth set with China having a slight point advantage.

The 2012 Olympic champions bowed down to China in 5 sets. China was too prepared for the big battle. They were confident and gained momentum when they won that second set.

Just wow. Pero I won't be watching the remaining games. Bitter mode kasi talo ang Brazil. HAHAHA!

BTW, Russia is pooling away from Canada now. The scores aren't that close even. Third set na, Russia leading by six points (10-16).
