sa asian women's qualification, it would be a battle between japan and korea. during the last world championships, korea almost defeated cuba with a 5 setter match. they now play backrow at grabe ang combination plays. matindi rin ang floor defense nila as well as the blocking. they have improved tremendously.
as for japan, they have beaten china in 3 straight sets. i dunno if china played so-so since they were already qualified in the olympics since they are the host country. going back to japan, they have this player (forgot the name) who single-handedly gave japan the victory. they have fascinating combination plays na kaya talagang iwan ang mga blockers in the midst.
thailand would be the darkhorse. they dragged china in a five-setter match at muntik pa silang manalo. they're style of play ay parang little brazilians. hindi sila ganun katatangkad pero mahilig sila mag-backrow attack. thogh losing in 3 straight matches pinahirapan nila ang eventual worl champion na italy.
italy will be the team to beat this olympics. ibang-iba na ang style of play nila. parang combination ng asian at brazilian style of play. cuba is also a threat with the super hitter/server calderon and of course yumilka ruiz. i don't think brazil will win. china's players were old at mabagal na. iba na rin ang style ng china, they go for european style of volleyball na but who knows pagdating sa beijing.
