I also saw that SEA 1993 gold medal match between RP and Thailand. It was the last gold medal in women's volleyball we achieved. RP team was strong that time. However, it was composed of strong players that underwent rigid selection and training as well.
Thelma Barina and Nene Ybanez were great during those times. Nene Ybanez was even invited to play in one of japan's commercial volleyball team. However, the unfortunate happened when she got married and started a family. She was suppose to be the very first Filipino to play in Japan's commercial volleyball league.

She was suppose to be the very first Filipino to play in Japan's commercial volleyball league. and that team was headed by a russian coach. power play tayo dyan and very good blocking since hindi pa naman ganun katatangkad ang mga players ng thailand dati. |
