^LOL. I feel Semana is very capable for the position. Since hindi siya ganun katangkad, mahihirapan siyan i-block ang mga international players. Given na rin ang kanyang excellent floor defense, not to mention ang diving skills. And if ever first ball is taken by the setter, Semana is there to the rescue. Kahit gaano pa kapangit ang pagkakaangat ng bola, ibibigay at ibibigay niya sa spikers ng buong ayos para paluin. Although, you may disagree with me. Gusto ko lang talaga siyang mapasali sa National Team. Hehe.

^ naman, ginawang libero si estrelita enriquez, magagamit na ang kanyang tumbling powers hehehe In fairness, that was the reason! Hahahaha! Hindi kasi ganun kaeffective sa offense si Tetet Enriquez eh... Pero hayup sa depensa... Naalala ko pa nung ginawa niyang football yung volleyball eh... Hahahaha ;D

eh pano tumaba na si enriquez. i remember her play nung 1995 sea games. nka silver sila dun. magaling syang hitter nung time nya. kahit nung uaap before, i think sa feu sya, sila ng ust naglaban and sya nagdadala sa team. sad nga lang ksi nag shift sya sa basketball kaya d na sya naglaro sa rp wvt noon.

coach: 2 - Augusto Sta. Maria (for attacks and blocking) and Minerva Dulce Pante (for reception coverage and floor defense) the team: Setters: Rubie De Leon (primary), Wendy Anne Semana (alternate) - Although Semana's height is a slight disadvantage, she has that leaping ability naman. A setter's job is of primary importance kasi she is the one calling the shots for the distribution of plays sa court. Even in the international teams, medyo may kaliitan naman ang mga setters (e.g. Takenutsa of Japan), ang importante lang is yung ball-handling skills and distributing it deceptively to any of your ready options in the court. Outside Hitters: Venus Bernal, Ma. Rosario "Charo" Soriano (1st 2 options); Laurence Anne Latigay, Sherrylyn Carillo (alternate with any of the 1st two options) - Chose them for their quickness and power in their attacks, including the angles they make on their attacks, their height to help in the blocks, and their ability to vary their attacks without varying form too much (i.e., akala mo kill, yun pala drop ball.. ito yung madalas na naririnig ko sa mga sports commentators sa TV. Same approach pero varied attacks) Middle Hitters/Center Spikers: Jacqueline Alarca, Mary Jean Balse (1st two options) mix it up with Suzanne Roces and Nerissa Bautista (either one of them can also be a 1st option) - Timing and stamina are keys for this position (nakakapagod kaya tumalon ng tumalon, since the block is the 1st defense sa volleyball, sunod na lang yung digs /receives behind the blocks), a keen eye for the ball and quick reflexes (in case of a battle at the net or an over-received ball), and definitely height is an all-important factor. With these players na nabanggit ko, given na yung attacking skills nila. Minsan kailangan mo rin haluin youth (Alarca) with experience eh (Balse), to see how they match up. Balse is best given a quick attack pag maganda set sa gitna (either van A or B - quick attack), Roces and Bautista are fast from their running attacks/slides on either side of the court, Alarca has impecable timing sa blocks sa gitna, and her drop balls are quick and too close to the back of the defenders of the opposing team kaya ang hirap minsan i-receive. Utility Position: Aiza Maizo, Christina Salak (1st two options), alternates: Danielle Michiko Castaneda, Anna Camille Abanto - Importante position nya kasi she plays 3 different roles sa court: setting when the primary setter receives the 1st ball, blocking together with the middle hitter, and attacking sa weaker side of the court as a 2nd or 3rd option by the setter (minsan pa nga defense specilaist pa siya sa likod kasama ng libero, 'though dapat given na sa lahat ng players within the court that they know well how to receive the ball.) Two of my choices are certified lefties (Abanto and Maizo), one can be a power-hitting backline hitter (Castaneda), while the other is an attcking setter (Salak). Libero: Hannah Suarez (kung may alternate, I would have to go with either Mary Jane Pepito or Rose Anne Taganas) - Digs and receives are the primary jobs of the libero. she's got to have good court sense (i.e knowing if the ball is going to land in or out), chase out any ball as much as she can within her zone of defense and able to anticipate the angle of attack of every player option on the opposing team and their mode of attack ("drop ball"/"crosscourt"/"off the block"/"down-the-line"?). if the setter is a strategist sa front line behind the net, same with the libero sa likod pagdating sa receive sa pag-receive (soft touch lang lagi sa pag-dig ng bola para di malakas pag-deflect ng bola sa arms, knowing where the setter will be coming for the set, who are the setter's option at the front... mga nakukuha lang through constant practice). Eto yung naisip kong team, based on the games I've watched on how these talented individuals play. Volleyball requires not only height and talent, also strategy and thinking players. Sorry if my post got too long..got a bit carried away..
