Possible starters for DLSU next season: Libero: Joana TeodosioHonestly, if not much improvement on Joanne Siy's attacking would be seen by the coaching staff, she might end up playing all her playing years coming off the bench and replace Mika Esperanza to have a full frontline of attackers, as Kim Fajardo sets. what will happen to gohing? where is amanda villanueva? sayang naman si joanne siy. sana first six na siya ulit next season. if cha cruz won't be back next season. i think it's abi na magdadala ng team. (can't wait for abi vs maru sa s74.) |

i'm back hehehehehe ang saya saya ko talga hehehehe....
tas si cruz pa ang finals mvp....parang si illa lang captain ball tas naging final mvp pa... sayang nga lang hindi maayos ang pag announce!!!!
yehey.... grabe nung 3rd set nakahabol pala tlga sila from 19 n score tas nakuha p nila.... kala ko may 4th set pa... at buti na lang hindi natulad yung nangyari last year!!!!! talagang desidido silang nabawi ang crown...
hay sarap matulog panalo favorite kong team pero dahil dyan magiinom ako magisa hehehehehe....
grabe sa kabila ng nangyari...
forfeiture ng isang game.
hindi nila pag sali sa v-league ng dalwang conference last year...
at 1st runner up lang sa unigames...
but still they made it to the finals....
at binawi ang korona....
hay grabe ang hirap at pinagdaanan ng lady spikers kaya deserved tlga nila manalo.....
to UST....
nice game pa rin....
at saludo pa rin ako kay aiza maizo..... magaling na player!!!!!!
bawi n lang kayo sa v-league...
dahil malamang hindi ulit mgjojoin ang lady spikers....
mahaba habang pahinga na naman at xempre mamimiss ko tlga sila ng bonggang bongga hehehehe...

kaya ito na ang season na napakasaya hehehehe..
champion ang lady spikers...
lahat talaga sa lady spikers nag contribute.... pati si ninja gohing ganda ng receive hehehehe... si michelle gumabao at abi galing sa blockings at attacks....
tas ang big MAC!!!! mercado, alarca at cruz..... wow!!!!!!!!!!!! talaga all around!!! hehehehehe...
at xempre si ROY of the year si esperanza.... hindi lang sa set magaling pati sa service.....

best team this season.......... dami pa nakuhang awards hindi lang deserved ang awards pati ang championship.....

Congratulations to the Lady Spikers for doing a complete SWEEP (on court) of Season73! You Girls deserve it and your individual awards. Animo La Salle! amanda villanueva will transfer to csb... I thought Amanda is the first permanent beach volley player under the new school's policy of having two or separate teams for indoor and beach. So DLSU's beach volley team will be all rookies next season? That's a tough decision on Joanne Siy considering she was the best blocker and ROY of Season72. What exactly is wrong with her attacking skills? 1.) Amanda Villanueva already transferred to DLS-CSB.
2.) Melissa Gohing might still be used as a second libero or a defense specialist, if Coach Ramil does not want to use the 2-libero rule because they can't be in the floor for the same time. Everything remains tentative until a UAAP season starts so if Gohing performs better than Teodosio in training and pre-season leagues, the libero position might go the other way.
3.) The very reason why Gumabao replaced Siy in this season's first 6 is Gumabao's advantage in attacking. Per coaching staff's evaluation, they are just about the same level in blocking but Gumabao's attacking is way better than Siy's and is her floor defense.
Are the new ones better than Joanne Siy? For now, maybe not in blocking but certainly yes in other skills. In the off season tournaments for example, Kim Fajardo would sometimes play setter when Mika Esperanza is not playing that well but she still racks up double-digit scores. Her good setting and attacking is the reason why she is an almost lock in for the utility position.

So DLSU's beach volley team will be all rookies next season? so the rumor was true. =( I thought guest player lang si Amanda ng CSB when I heard she was representing CSB @ Cantada beach volley a few weeks ago. so after the UAAP 73 Beach volley tourney ended last Sept. 2010, lumipat siya schools? Parang ang abrupt imho. =( Huge loss sa beach team ng DLSU, especially if Cha Cruz opts not to use her last playing year. And ganda ng teamwork nila. Tough opponents ng Adamson beach team, and I have huge respect for their skill, endurance and determination. Lalong lalakas ang CSB beach team then. |

La Salle foils UST's title retention bid in women's volleyball

De La Salle University (DLSU) and University of Santo Tomas (UST) are both celebrating their respective foundation milestones this year, but it's the Lady Archers who will have a memorable party.
La Salle's Lady Spikers pounced on the Tigresses' lackluster performance to foil UST's title defense bid in straight sets, 25-18, 25-17, 28-26, to complete a two-game sweep of their best-of-three championship series in the 73rd UAAP volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City on Saturday.
La Salle will be commemorating its 100th year of presence in the Philippines while UST recently celebrated its quadricentennial (400th year).
The Tigresses vowed to extend the title series to a deciding Game 3 after losing the opener in five hard-fought sets. But compared to their Game 1 loss, UST fared even worse in matching La Salle's intensity for the entire match.
It was only in the third set that the Tigresses managed to threaten the Lady Archers. Behind an 8-1 run, UST took control and was at set-point, 24-19, after a Maru Banaticla block and an Abigail Marano error.
La Salle, however, countered with six straight points, highlighted by Stephanie Mercado’s three kills, to regain the upperhand and reach match point, 25-24.
But UST would not go down that easily, managing to tie the score twice, the last at 26-all. Michelle Gumabao then scored on a down-the-line hit before skipper Charleen Cruz sealed La Salle's victory with a drop shot.
"I give credit to my players, since they really wanted to finish the series," said La Salle coach Ramil De Jesus in Filipino.
"Having Maria Mikaela Esperanza as our setter did wonders for the team. Even though she's a rookie, she showed she can play under pressure. I have nothing but praises for her," added De Jesus of Esperanza, who was named the season’s top rookie.
For the first time this season, no player from UST finished in double figures, with last year's Most Valuable Player Aiza Maizo being held to a season-low seven points.
Judy Anne Caballejo paced UST’s losing cause with nine points, followed by Banaticla's eight markers.
It was La Salle's sixth overall title under De Jesus.

Sana magcheck muna na facts yung writer ng article, MVP ba last season si Aiza. Correct me if I'm wrong, diba si Cherry Vivas ang mvp last season?
Lahat kasi talaga si Aiza ang tingin na dapat MVP, bakit kasi hindi sa kanya binigay. o well. that's life. hello.

LOL kahit nman sumali kayo and in good health UST ewan ko lang.. sorry pero kung walang injured sa UST players ewan ko lan kun kayo pa din nag champion. lahat ng breaks napunta sa DLSU lalo na nung game 1. kaya wag ka masyado magyabang.. cge nga kung magaling tlga kayo with that solid lineup sali kau sa SVL ngaun. let's see how far can you go!
