i wasnt able to watch the entire set 1 but for some part i was so sure UST had it in the bag. ADMU is just playing like HS. Showing no experience and youd think that they are all rookies trying to learn the game itself. But that was wiped out after the barrage of points in the second and the third. UST's defense fell, the offense thwarted. Shoulders down and somehow as a fan i felt that this is it. we are losing. Maizo is the only star out on a cloudy night and i feel so sorry for her during the times when the team is down. I so wanted someone to replace her cause shes so tired. But during the 4th i was glad that maica stepped up. I was kinda wondering why rhea didnt utilized her skill in the middle. She can eat ADMU's blockers alive if she wants to.
All in all ADMU was great, excellent to be honest. But you cannot just deny aiza and rheas combination. I agree, no one as in no one in the UAAP or in NCAA or in Vleague can outshine Aiza's talent. Shes that awesome. Super hero like.
One for UST!

I dont think this game should be the basis of the overall performance of UST for the entire season. I mean obviously this is not their best game.They are the defending champions and so I can understand why they are pressured.. If you are a good observant you can tell that Rhea opted for Aiza most of time. She was not able to maximize Ortiz but I cant blame her because of not so good receive of the team. But please 1st year pa lang c Dusaran but for me magaling xa for a rookie. Do I need to compare her sa mga naging libero ng team on their rookie year?
It is still too early to tell but I must admit.. the team to beat this season is DLSU. given na dpat yun. ilan ba nawala sa UST. they lost their key players like Santiago,Tabaquero and Curato and some might not agree with me kawalan dn c Mance for blocking purposes. Indeed a win is a win. Nagsi2mula pa lang ang season so dont judge our team at this early.

buti pa si Ferrer, halos di na gumagalaw. national team player yata ng juniors ang libero ng ADMU ngayon, kaya magaling na talaga, unlike ng mga libero ng UST, from spiker to libero.. hehehehe.... |

tama ka. i was hoping that maru and matet will monopolize the scoring. Maybe when they get to meet weaker teams. sayang di ako nakapanood ng live. i would want to hear the crowd cheer go uste!

in contrary, i was expecting a high-intense performance for ADMU to think they trained and practice in Thailand. Gumasto pa sila ng pera para mag trained but for me their performance is way similar to last season. Dapat hindi nalng nag punta ng ibang bansa para mag train kung ganun naman din ang resulta. The performance is not that impressive. Sorry talaga, kinda dissapointing.
To those who criticize about the libero of USTE, pasencya na kasi rookie pa lang at hindi naman talaga siya ang main libero. But being a rookie, she plays better at naimpress ako sa kanya.
Sabi ko na nga ba, may mga bitter talaga. Bawi nalng next time. ADMU is no longer an underdog team. marami na kanila ang juniors at senior. Baka sabihin naman nila na mga bata pa kasi. Anyway, before this day came, I am rooting for ADMU-DLSU finals pero nag iba ang mind ko, USTE-DLSU pa rin kahit USTE losses key players. My beloved USTE, defend the crown! 2 peat!

Ateneo came out also a winner today.
They really showed improvement, especially Fille Cainglet. Mas lakas na din ang palo niya, hindi na siya denied parate ni ortiz.
De Jesus was a surprise, much so that USt was caught off-guard (but I think next time she will not be as effective, latter part of 4th set and 5th set, huling-huli na siya ng blockers and floor defense)
Bea Pascual also came up steady that game.
Floor defense of Ateneo frustrated UST's other attackers. Limiting the Tigeresses to only 2 players in double digits.
Jem Ferrer was cold in the 1st set Luke warm in the 2nd, Hot in the 3rd and 4th and was playing with no contact in the 5th yet they gave UST a scare.
Whats missing is the Output of HO and Acevedo. The latter may have some strong hits but are just too far in between.
the Blocking is also sub-par
As for UST
I saw how fierce they can get(hence the 1st set).
Caballejo has the skill pero prone siya mag second guess sa kanyang abilidad. especially when she makes an error, ang hirap niyang makabawi. Pero commendable naman ang floor defense and service efficiency. Buti nalang she put her act together just in time.
Banaticla was just steady in attacks, have some errors here and there pero bumabawi naman. What is notable though is her floor defense, or the lack of it. Maraming mga pinakawalang chances.
Ortiz, well she puts more power in her spikes yet I missed the output she usually gives during season 71 (to think papalit-palit sila ng libero because of reception and dig problems)
Hirotsuji, good start, can see rookie flaws, hope to see more of her.
Rhea, as always maasahan be it blocking, setting, and service.
Dance Durusuan, for a rookie you play like there is no tomorrow.
Overall, UST dodged many bullets yet the championship experience and the fact that You have MAIZO, a player who can give you a SET and a Half of pure Score, helps big time.

naaawa ako kay maizo kanina. kitang kita sa court na pagod at mejo inis siya sa latter part.
mali mali yung nagsasalita.
Aiza->Aila daw
Magsumbol->Magsubong
at kung ano ano pa.
sulit ang 80 pesos. sa uulitin =)
BTW Maizo, you're amazing just the way you are.

What I was referring to was receiving not digging okay? Just so you know. Walang bolang umaabot kay Rhea pag siya nag-re-receive. Sabi nga nila, liberos are either good receivers or good diggers. Siguro good digger si Dancel, but most definitely she is not a good receiver. HAHAHAHA  kaya nga si Kat ang libero kasi siya ung mas ok magreceive at sub si dancel kasi magaling magdig. swerte pa ateneo at si dancel ang nagsuit up dahil kakagaling lang sa sakit ni kat. |
