Russia Wins versus THe netherlands 5sets 30-28,22-25,22-25,25-22,15-13 Sokolova and Gamova as OH Kosheleva as OPP Saw this game. Arggh! Disappointed by the Russian Team. No serve-receives (only Sokolova was the reliable receiver even the libero played poorly) and poor setting by Startseva (perhaps because of the poor reception). Gamova was also being served but it was the Opposite Kosheleva who was mostly targeted by the Dutch servers. Yung attacking prowess ng Russian Team is a given...without a doubt, they could battle with Brazil or USA or Italy. But their form as a team was a letdown. If they are indeed defending their crown in 2 MONTHS time, they better improve or else its going to be a short tournament for them. kaya nga eto ang testing ground ng Russia.. si gamova still suffer's in her injury sokolova wala pa sa form.... haizt...volleyball.tv?..wala naman akong silverlight eh........ |

Anyway, napansin ko lang, weird ang rotation ng Netherlands kasi may OH sila na lefty..si Grothues. She does the serve-reception, she hits (and blocks) on the left... very unorthodox... Malabo din namang maging Opposite sya kasi andun si Manon Flier.

Wow, all of the European Teams who played in WGP11 qualification were pure disappointments especially Netherlands and Italy. Russia was decent. Sana mag improve pa sila...
Karpol? Care to start a thread dedicated for the World Champs for Men and Women? Hehehe. Lapit na yung men's!

ahhhh alam ko na username mo dun karpol...parang nkita kna yang initial na yan dun....its good a gumawa ka ng threat for the world champs for men...sa women next month pa magstart...update us karpol for the latest ah...thanx ulit.......

Nag friendly game ang Brazil vs USA. Panalo Brazil 3-2.
Injured ang Opposites of 2 teams. Sheilla may finger injury while may back pains daw si Hooker.
Wala si Paula (and obviously Mari). Wala sa US si Tom, Bown and Berg.
"High quality" ang laro. Despite not having their big stars, US played very well except for their reception in the 4th and 5th set. Target si Larson at yun hindi na-handle ang pressure pero ang galing na niya sa atake. Decent performances from Akinradewo, Joines-Tamas and Metcalf. Pero pinaka impressive si Hodge. She improved a lot! Hindi mahuli-huli ng Brazil ang backrow attacks niya.
Brazil was decent. Magaling ang parehong Middle players nila. Unstoppable si Thaisa and Fabiana. Jacqueline did fine. Si Natalia naman was okay in attacking and serving pero as always poor in reception. The "big" revelation was Sheilla's replacement, Joycinha. Magaling siya and had a lot of kills. What made them win was their: 1). serving, 2) reception. Oh forgot to mention Garay played her 1st game for Brazil. As expected, she was better on attacks than on reception.
Napansin ko lang, ever since those NCAA grads (Hooker, Hodge, Glass, etc) started playing and the vets returned/returning, the US has really upped their level of play. Brazil was once unbeatable but the US surely now knows how to defeat them.
I'm pinning my hopes on these 2 teams to go the semis for the World Champs and we'll see from there. Im a big Brazilian and USA fan!
