but scott's too old to be in the national team now i think i would have to disagree a little bit..to swimbod thats not an overstatement....tischenko if not the best one of the best i would say so... tischenko..mastered this kind of running spike...... the results are excellent..... guys dont you remember valentina oguienko's running spikes? how about wu yongmei... motoko obhayashi's left hand running hit... sa tingin ko lang saking pananaw.. mas quick ang running ni oguenko kay liu...... at mas malakas din We have our own favorites and I guess that affect our own choices. I prefer Plotnikova's (spelling) running over Tischenko's. Feeling ko very blockable si Tischenko at times. Today, China's Ming and the two Brazilian middle hitters are the best. Ming's is the snappy type while Fabiana and Thaisa's are more into power. I expect USA's Akinrawdenko to develop soon. Scott-Aruda has improved so much!

Anywho, what can you say naman about Anastasia Belikova? Magaling din siya di ba?

karpol: based sa finals match 2000 and 2004 olympics. wala kasi akong masyadong natatandaan kay tischenko. oh, i always cringe whenever the ball was given to her. i prefer yung mga wing and back row attacks ng russia. @jodoman: marcia wala syang quick but i've seen her once do that against usa. that was in the early 90's. yup, scott-aruda is too old but her best performance was the last olympics in my opinion. i also like crista harmatto of usa kaso hindi sya pinag-laro this grand prix... very simona giola ang attack nya. narcoleptic24: thanks for the spelling. on topic: i think brazil will definitely win this tourney and china can challenge them if they become steady. i think we should wait till 2011 before the playing field will become even or close to what brazil is. usa has new prospects that will join the team after the ncaab plus some old players. i just hope they play as a team and get of the current setter. cuba should get their act back and i suggest to have a 5-1 play. i'm still clueless of what italy is doing to improve their team.

baliktad uy. "marcia FU CUNHA", hindi "marcia cu funha." yes, hindi siya nag-ku-quick. ang alam ko kasi, ang sistema ng brazil ay middle blockers ang gumagawa ng quicks kasi. 'yong sinasabi mo bang "running" ni sun yue ay "slide" ba, o iba? belikova was a good receiver, pero mas versatile na hitter si morozova. nakita ko pa ngang nag-backrow hit si morozova. pag nasa front line si belikova, tumutulong din siyang mag-receive. nakita ko rin siyang mag-slides, pero ang awkward tignan. swimobod parang baliktad ata.... mas BLOCKable ang Running ni Plotnikova... halos nga puro pa checked lang nga sa blocked....at puro down da line..pa ive seen it....ndi kaya mag cross court ni plotnikova kung sinasabi mo blockable ang running ni tischenko dahil ba ito sa performance niya ....nung 2004 olympics? ow i remember sun yue doing running hits..a little bit like an Alimova From Open side to Position 3 yung ganung running...ive seen it si MArcia Cu FUnha... nag didiferential lang siya ala siang quick attack..... about Belikova shes a more blocker than hitter i would say pero kaya niya mag score as tischenko did..pero madalang... parang siya si morozova kaya din mag Open Hit....at mag recieve(i should check my memory basta parang natatandaan ko kasi nung 2003 WGP nkita ko sa BEst Receivers ika top 10)...nung gawa pa ung site nang fivb 2003 best players) belikova hindi sia ata nag ruruning..pero nakita ko na sia mag running sa picture hehe...nung wala na sia NT........... simona GIOLI errrr...why did you cringe when sets were given to the middle blockers? maganda nga't kahit papaano ay may variety e yes, i have to agree...2011 at malamang level na ang lahat. i saw italy a match against the new chinese team. i think this happened before or after montreux this year. lo bianco, rineiri, aguero, croce (or was it cardullo?), barazza and guiggi were there. the only newbie in the court there was that tall leftie outside hitter. anyway, if you've seen montreux this year, i think you've already seen italy's future. with cuba, siguro mag-si-six-two lang sila pag may kasing-ayos ni aguero silang setter...hmm, but even when aguero was still with them, they abandoned the 5-1 system, so mukhang malabo silang mag-6-2. karpol: based sa finals match 2000 and 2004 olympics. wala kasi akong masyadong natatandaan kay tischenko. oh, i always cringe whenever the ball was given to her. i prefer yung mga wing and back row attacks ng russia.

To Swimbod...2000 Olympics Tischenko was not an attack option rather an occasional attacker more often than Morozova...
2004 Olympics Tischenko was not an Option nor Occasional attacker..because she have an knee injury ..both
kung napanood si tischenko 2001-2003...for me it was her prime years.....
kung 100% tischenko nung 2004 olympics hindi sila nahirapan sa brazil nung semifinals at nakagold pasila nun sure ako non.. kaso hindi buti pa nga nakapaglaro pa siya nun kahit may injury pa siya....

From FIVB:
Brazil upbeat over their title defence in World Grand Prix Tokyo, Japan, August 18, 2009 – Brazil’s head coach Jose Roberto Lages Guimaraes has pined high hopes on his team to make a clean sweep in the 2009 FIVB World Grand Prix Final Round and retain the well-earned tile.
The Final Round kicks off on Wednesday afternoon at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium with the Netherlands challenging China in the curtain-raisers which turns out to be a revenge match as the Dutchwomen already lost to China 1-3 in the third week Pool G in Hong Kong..
The world’s six elite teams – Brazil, defending and seven-time champions, FIVB World No.1 and gold medalists at the last year’s Beijing Olympics, the Netherlands, champions in 2007, Asian powerhouse and champions in 2003 China, world champions and three-time winners Russia, up-and-coming Germany and Asian champions Japan – play a single round-robin competition to determine the eventual winners.
Head coaches of the six participating teams on Tuesday gathered at the Keio Plaza Hotel here to join the press conference, which was attended by a large number of local journalists.
The followings are what the head coaches had commented in the press conference. Brazil’s head coach Jose Roberto Lages Guimaraes: “I’m very delighted that my team make it to the Final Round here. Brazil is a good team, but we have to play our best here. From tomorrow (August 19), we have to play tough matches with high-level volleyball. My players are fit physically and mentally. Though a daunting task awaits my team, I think we will fight all out to win all matches and defend the World Grand Prix crown.”
China’s head coach Cai Bin: “I’m happy that my team also advance to the Final Round. Among the six participating teams, China is the youngest. My players are not fast enough on court. I have to replace some players with the other ones just to find the right formula of the team. However, I still have my fingers crossed and hope that my team will do their best here.”
The Netherlands’ head coach Avital Selinger: “We worked very hard, but we did a good job in the preliminaries. I hope my players will maintain their good performances. Everyone has a will to win. However, we are now in the Finals and tough matches are expected from the first day to the end. We have to be physically and mentally prepared to make sure we are ready to come up with a good fight against any team. It’s a very challenging task. Against China in the curtain-raisers, I admit that it will be a tough match. Whenever we play China, it never ends easily. The scores are very close. It will be a competitive match out there tomorrow.”
Russia’s head coach Vladimir Kuzyutkin: “It’s great to compete in the Final Round after we did not play last year. Most of my players are young and still need the experience and exposure to use in future major competitions. I think all teams are very strong. Certainly, every team will face a strong challenge as well. We will do our best.”
Germany’s head coach Giovanni Guidetti: “It’s very important that we could join the top six teams in the World Grand Prix. Eighty percent of my players are very happy that we could join the fray in Tokyo. We try to keep going every week. Here, we have to take on all strong teams. We will try our best. My team have a problem on the lack of physical fitness. However, I think that the problem can be overcome when we get to the competition court.”
Japan’s head coach Masayoshi Manabe: “From tomorrow (August 19), we have to play tough matches in the Final. It will be the one last stand for us. Although our blocking is not that good as our players are short, we play as a team. I believe that if we try our best this time, a better chance can be within our reach.”
Earlier, the General Technical Meeting was held at the same room, with Japan Volleyball Association’s vice president Taisaburo Nakano and World Grand Prix Council President Masao Tachiki jointly presiding.

mali yan deejay may typo error lang siguro nag basa ako sa description eto yung press release nila yung 2nd set 25-22 mali ata yung nasulat nila pero ito ng yung full description ng laro nila take note of the scores...
Tokyo, Japan, August 19, 2009: The Netherlands beat China 3-2 in the first match of the World Grand Prix Final Round at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on Wednesday afternoon.
Inspired by captain Manon Flier, the 2007 champions won 18-25, 25-22, 25-22, 24-26, 15-13 on their second match point.
China reached the first TTO with a one-point lead, 8-7, after some good work at the net by Xue Ming on attack and block. The Dutch were struggling with their serve reception, and Wang Yimei scored an ace with a powerful jump-serve.
When Caroline Wensink fired wide to leave the Dutch trailing 11-7, Avital Selinger called his first TO. The Chinese block remained strong, but there was nothing they could do to stop Manon Flier breaking through with a smooth smash from the right – one of seven points in the first set for the captain.
The Dutch could not find their rhythm, though, and trailed 16-9 at the second TTO. Flier tried to lift her team, but when they fell behind 19-11 to a quicker and more dynamic China, the Dutch called their second TO.
Li Juan moved China further ahead with a cross-court spike from the right, but some good work on the left by Chaine S:"lens closed the gap to 21-15 and forced a China TO.
Xue’s blocking took China to set point at 24-15, and they clinched it 25-18 on a serve error.
China made a sluggish start to the second frame, and Debby Stam capitalised with a flowing winner down the left side. Flier followed from a deep position on the right, and the Dutch were hitting their stride at 8-4.
Ingrid Visser showed persistence at the net to keep the Dutch moving, and Flier’s back-court attacks brought a steady supply of points. Visser battered the Dutch into the second TTO with a three-point cushion at 16-13, but when China pulled level 16-16 on points from Ma Yunwen and Yin Na, the Netherlands called a TO.
Ma was becoming increasingly influential at the net, but Wang was wild and China called a TO on losing the lead again, 20-19.
From 22-22, southpaw Maret Grothues and a Kim S:"lens ace moved the Netherlands to two set points, China TO, and poor serve reception technique ended it 25-22, 1-1.
A stunning Xue block on Flier was the highlight of the early stages of the third frame, but Flier got her revenge when Wang could not control her sizzling spike shortly after.
Great defence by Kim S:"lens enabled Chaine S:"lens to take the Dutch into the first TTO with a one-point lead, but a thundering blow by Wang and Ma block turned it round for China.
A rare Flier attack error brought a Dutch TO trailing 12-9, and poor Dutch serving added to their problems. A Kim S:"lens block on Li closed the gap to 15-14, and the setter than spiked down the middle for 15-15. Kim was on a roll, and a tricky piece of work at the net kept the Dutch on the pace.
China called a TO down 18-16 after another point from the left-hander Grothues, and Chaine S:"lens continued to swing away on the left for 21-18.
Visser finished off a counter-attack by thrashing another unstoppable winner at the net, and four set points arrived at 24-20 on a serve error. Selinger called a TO on seeing the first two of them slip away, and a wild serve ended it 25-22, 2-1 to the Netherlands.
Captain Flier gave the Dutch a solid start to the fourth set with some well-placed serves, supported by a good block, but Chu Jinling led the Chinese reply with her fiery jump-serves which unsettled the orange defence.
Visser was stopped in her tracks by a crashing Li block as China tried to step up the pace, and China led 8-6 at the first TTO.
Zhao Yanni kept the pressure on the Dutch defence with some powerful attacks, but Francien Huurman quickly worked her out and pulled off a block point to add to her tally.
When Grothues sliced through the Chinese defence again, the Netherlands led 16-15 at the second TTO. China called a TO trailing 18-16, but fell further behind when Huurman blazed one down the middle for 20-17. But the Chinese were far from out of this one.
A gentle Ma serve dropped between the Dutch defence, and Xue’s superb block on Flier pulled China level 20-20 and brought a Dutch TO.
China missed a set point at 24-23, but won the fourth set on their second attempt 26-24 when Chaine S:"lens fired long, 2-2.
In the tiebreak, Grothues moved the Netherlands ahead 4-3 and Huurman’s block for 5-3 forced China into a TO. Grothues was proving hard to contain, her crisp southpaw spikes from the left fizzing through the defence at a sharp angle.
China led 8-7 at the turnaround but could not pull away as Huurman blocked Wang.
At 11-11, China made two attack errors and called a TO in trouble down 13-11. Flier brought up two match points at 14-12, and Stam came on to serve. China saved one of them, but Flier won it 15-13.
