Congrats UST!
Tapos na ang celebration. Sa lunes back to reality.
The UAAP will never be a walk-in-the-park for UST. Wala na si Bernal at Balse. Di magandang balita iyan pero ang magandang balita may apat na mukha na idadagdag sa line-up na USTe - Mabayyad, Ortiz, Gonzales at si Cavalejo.
Excited ako sa pagpasok ng apat na ito because lahat sila will be an integral part of UST's plan of regaining its UAAP crown sa 71st season starting this December.
Hindi mawawala ang TIGER PACK at libo libong supporters ng USTe para bigyan sila ng suporta matalo man or manalo.
Dapat ONE FOR USTE palagi.

PVY tourney: UST, RTU wins women's, men's volleyball crowns
The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Lady Spikers announced its return in the collegiate volleball scene after it trounced in three-straight sets the Adamson Lady Falcons, 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-22) in the women's finals of the Philippine Volleyball Federaton Intercollegiate Volleyball Tournament at the Rizal Technological University (RTU) Gym in Mandaluyong City, Saturday night.
UST, which skipped this year's first conference of the Shakey's V-League, relied on the outstanding plays of veteran players Mary Jean Balse, Venus Bernal and Ma. Angeli Tabaquero, to frustrate Adamson's bid of defending the crown it won against the same team last year.
Come-backing Aiza Maizo also had a splendid game for the Espana-based spikers with her superb kills and blocks in the crucial stages of the match that help prevent Adamson from rallying.
Aside from a handsome trophy, the Lady Tigresses was also awarded by tournament organizers with a P20,000 check for winning the championship.
In the battle for third, DLSU eked out a convincing 25-18, 25-19, 25-19 victory over University of the East (UE) Lady Spikers to grabbed third spot in the tourney.
In men's competitions, RTU defeated NCBA four sets (19-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-17), to bag the men's crown.
The University of the Philippines (UP) Maroons, meanwhile, had to rally from two sets down to defeat a luckless Ateneo, 3-2 (18-25, 17-25, 25-17, 25-20, 15-10), to bagged third place.
UST's Mary Jean Balse was named as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the women's division while RTU's Laja was named MVP in the men's side.
UST's Cesael delos Santos, meanwhile, was named best coach in the tournament. (stonecold316)

UST dethrones Adamson spikers

University of Santo Tomas dethroned Adamson University, 25-19, 25-20, 25-22, over the weekend to capture the 2008 Inter-Collegiate volleyball champion women’s title at the Rizal Technological University (RTU) gym in Mandaluyong City.
The España-based volleybelles leaned on veteran spiker Mary Jane Balse, who sizzled with 18 kills highlighted by four blocks and two service aces in this event organized by the Philippine Volleyball Federation.
The Tigresses offered the victory to their coach August Sta. Maria, who was still recovering from a stroke he suffered months ago.
"We dedicate this title to coach August. Please get well, this title is for you," said Balse.
Balse’s impressive performance earned her the Most Valuable Player plum, while teammates Venus Bernal and Angeli Tabaquero bagged the Best Attacker and Best Server awards, respectively.
"She (Balse) always proves that she’s the veteran of this team," said Cesael Delos Santos, who took the coaching chores from Sta. Maria.
Host RTU bounced back from a slow start and downed National Colleges of Business and Arts (NCBA), 19-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-17, to claim the men’s title.
The women’s crew of De La Salle University and the men’s squad of University of the Philippines settled for third places after downing their respective rivals in contrasting fashion
The DLSU Lady Archers whipped the University of the East Amazons, 25-20, 25-16, 25-19, while the UP Maroons survived past the Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles, 18-25, 17-25, 25-17, 25-20, 15-10 in this week-long supported by Antipolo City Mayor Victor Sumulong, chief of staff LJ Sumulong, Gener Dungo, the Philippine Sports Commission, the Philippine Olympic Committee and Mikasa.
