it's an off game for ust which the maroons took advantage of. one win for UP..another loss for ust. that's how it goes sometimes.

@psych - actually it was both, UP, with adrenaline rushing, stepped up big time, minimized their errors and quite apt, played smart at the most crucial times. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant coaching job from coach dulay!
UST, on the other hand, was the most lethargic i've seen them play, seemed like no one wants to bend their knees and get down to business, i feel for caballejo, it was apparent that this was not a good day for her yet the setter keeps setting the ball to her and the coach, err, coaches didn't even gave her a break. Poor, poor, poor coaching from err... the tree of them - as to the three-man/woman coaching - i really feel that it's not doing them wonders, the girls are at a lost and it doesn't help that three, not one, not two, but three coaches are doing the sermon.
BTW, what's the name of the moreno coach of UST? grabe, ang cute hehehe

ATENEO, save for the lousy third set, was brilliant. Although mission failed (as Gervacio said in the pre-match interview, 3 sets was the goal), a win is still a win, anyway it's Christmas, give themselves a break  Jam Ferrer was at her finest, throwing excellent sets each and every time, utilizing every spiker on the roster. Dzi Gervacio keeps getting better and better, it's quite scary (for the other teams  ) to see how much more would she improve come new year. Both her and Jam's jump serves are lethal. If they can perfect it and make it more consistent (the errors often come in the latter sets) throughout five sets, especially since it seems that they have a penchant for five setters - it can give them much-needed free points at crunch time. And that one backline spike from Dzi is interestingly, reminiscent of a Charo  I feel that from the way things are shaping up, Dzi will be the main go-to girl and Fille and Kara to support her, which I think is the smart way to go, at least for now. Cainglet is amazing but it is obvious that she's still lacking on the power department. A bit more time at the Caf and Moro gym, perhaps. Is it me or does anybody also thinks that Gabriel is miles, miles better in this game that in their first games. Good to see Nacachi get some points, and actually showed a lot of promise. Nice to see Gretchen HO tried a few running spikes - though it obviously needs finetuning - it's still great to see how much willing this girl is to work on her game and add on a few tricks on her arsenal. BTW, it is quite obvious that Boom Gonzales has the hots for Gretchen HO hehehe, ---> Boom-Ho loveteam hehe  Kudos to Coach Roger, I can't think of a better coach and a better coaching style to handle this young and promising ateneo squad.

UST is having problems with their rotation since the only players that delivered were Maizo (utility) and Ortiz (middle) and they only have Dimaculangan as the setter on court. Kapag ang frontline nila ay sina Caballejo, Mance, at Dimaculangan, halos wala ng opensa dahil syempre setter si Dimaculangan at hindi naman makapagdeliver yung dalawa nyang spiker sa harap. In the 2nd set, they took out Mance and tried shifting Maizo to the middle blocker position and let Zapata played the utility. However, it still didn't work.
I don't know if it's possible but why don't they try a 6-2 play with Dimaculangan and Gonzales as setters/utility spikers, let Ortiz and Maizo play middle blocker, and then Co and Caballejo/Zapata as open hitters. I've seen Rhea Dimaculangan play during her high school days and she can definitely hit the ball well (no offense, but even better than some of their attackers). Si Jane Gonzales naman used to be an open hitter rin and was just converted into a setter. Kung blocking ang problema with Gonzales in the frontline, pwede siyang palitan ng isa pang attacker and then she just comes back when to set kapag frontline na si Dimaculangan...

Sayang hindi ko tinapos ang laro... umalis ako nung 4th set na...
Masaya na kc ako nun na ang first point ng UP, galing sa attack ni montero...
