i read an article from PSEP...and this is what they say for UST to win the second game:
1. Limit their errors. Case and point, the winning point wasnt because of Adamson's skill, it was because UST made an error. If UST lessens that, it means they will have a better fighting chance in game 2.
2. Neutralize Neriza Bautista and Angela Benting. These two are the secret weapons of Adamson. Neriza had 52 attempts at the ball. While Angel attacked the ball 46 times. They may not have a May Jean Balse or a Venus Bernal but these two are more than adequate to negate any advantage that Balse and Bernal provide.
3. Maximize May Jean Balse and Venus Bernal. Set more plays designed to do what they do best. Smash the volleyball like an intercontinental ballistic missile down enemy lines. They can do it all night alternating with their other great attackers but they need to lead the way.
4. Show Adamson who's the boss by pacing the game. UST's more of a set and smash kind of team while Adamson will just run you down to the ground. So UST has to set the tempo and make Adamson adjust to their style of play.
5. Defense is the best offense. I know, I know, it sounds like a cliche, but it sure d**n works. Case and point, if the ball is always on your opponents side, chances are you will score more. So to the UST squad, my advise is help 'gang block' and not leave the blocking to Maika Ortiz and May Jean Balse.
6. Players like Sarah Jane Gonzales, Michelle Del Rosario, Hanna Mance, Kimberly Lazaro and Denise Tam shpuld step up their game and take it to the next level. It doesnt matter whether your starting or reserve, as soon as the coach taps you, you have to be ready to give it your all. And coach Cesael Delos Santos should have more faith in his bench. This squad of girls are very tough. They wont be at the top if they werent. Give them the minutes they deserve and have faith.
