^ Di ba middle blocker si Jinni Mondejar? I heard wala na daw siya sa line-up eh... So there's a possibility that Su will take Jinni's position... hindi naman middle blocker si jinni, utility spiker po sya na minsan pumapalo sa open. si mirasol at devanadera ang middle nila

Eh totoo naman eh. Syempre mas lalakas ang chance nila mag-champion this year kasi wala ang USTe and DLSU. Parang nung season 69 ng UAAP men's basketball wars. madami nagsabi na kaya lang nag-champion ang USTe was because wala ang DSLU archers because of the suspension.

V-League upbeat despite UST withdrawal
By Romina Austria Philippine Daily Inquirer First Posted 23:38:00 03/14/2008
THE SHAKEY'S V League Women's volleyball tournament gets ready for a new season and organizers are optimistic that it will survive the sudden withdrawal of defending champion University of Santo Tomas.
This was the assessment of officials of the organizing Sports Vision who were taken by surprise by the Tigresses' decision late Wednesday.
"UST did not participate in 2006 and yet, fans still trooped to our games," said league chair Moying Martelino. "Even in the recent UAAP finals, UST and La Salle did not play but the league still recorded an unprecedented turnout."
"If the competition is balanced and the teams are good and tough enough, the fans will be there."
UST cited academic issues and the health condition of coach Augusto Santamaria, who suffered a stroke on March 2, as reasons for its withdrawal.
La Salle had earlier withdrawn from the fifth season because of its weak roster while Letran, one of the league's founding members, was not invited this time due to its poor performance last year, when it finished last twice.
Taking their spots are College of St. Benilde and Visayas teams University of San Jose-Recoletos and University of St. La Salle Bacolod.
UST and La Salle have split the league's six crowns, with the Tigress winning the inaugural championship in 2004 and both conferences last year and the Lady Archers taking the two conferences of 2005 and the 2006 plum.
"We're focusing on the new things this year, like the entry of the two Visayan teams and St. Benilde, to make the league more appealing to the fans," said Martelino. "Some of the Thai imports, like San Sebastian's Jaroensri Bulaee, are probably returning."
Sports Vision director Rhea Navarro said La Salle and UST assured the league of their participation, despite earlier apprehensions, up until Tuesday.

V-League makes the league more excitingby : MILES DY of www.spikeithard.comThe upcoming Shakey’s V-League 1st conference of Season 5 is probably one of the most talked about conferences ever be it a good thing or negatively. There were some talks on why certain teams like defending champion University of Santo Tomas and former 3-peat champion De La Salle University did not join but despite these issues, the organizers thought of a way to attract the spectators without these two hotshots. After all, they are for promoting the sport itself and not just keen on getting revenues via sponsors or tickets sales. There will be a total of eight teams joining this coming conference. Take note that these are not just so-so teams, but they are the country’s supreme teams when it comes to volleyball. For Manila, we have NCAA 3-Peat Champion and last conference’s 1st Runner-Up San Sebastian College - Recoletos, UAAP Season 70 Champion Far Eastern University, UAAP Season 70 1st Runner-Up and UNIGAMES Champion Adamson University, UAAP Season 70 Semifinalist and last conference’s 2nd Runner-Up Ateneo de Manila University, NCAA Season 83 1st Runner-Up College of Saint Benilde and 7-Time WNCAA Champion Lyceum of the Philippines University. Joining the Manila teams are teams from Visayas namely CESAFI Champion University of San Jose - Recoletos and UNIGAMES 1st Runner-Up University of Saint La Salle. The tournament will be exciting itself because of the many changes the board will implement for this league. First, the board reinstated the double round robin preliminaries. In here, the Manila teams will face off each other twice in the double round robin preliminaries. This was done so as to let the other teams win more just in case they were adjusting at the early part of the tournament. Whoever will rank first and second after the preliminaries, will automatically get the first two semifinals berth. If two teams are tied for the second spot, there will be a playoff match to determine who will get the second final four berth. The eliminations will run from March 30 to May 4. By the way, no team will be eliminated in the preliminaries. The third, fourth, fifth and sixth seeded team will now be joined by the Visayan teams in the quarterfinals. In here, they will face in a single round robin format wherein whoever will be the top two teams after the quarterfinals, will emerge as the last two semifinalists. If in case a team is ranked lower than the two teams but they won three out of five games, they will have the opportunity to force a playoff match against the second best team after the quarterfinals for the right to be in the final four. A total of four teams will be eliminated after the quarterfinals. The quarterfinals will run from May 6 to May 23. In the semifinals, the two best teams after the preliminaries and the two best teams after the quarterfinals will face off in a single round robin format. The two best squads after the semifinals will obviously move to the next stage which is of course, the best of three Championship series. However, if two teams are tied for the second seed after the semifinals, they will have a playoff match to determine who will move on to the Finals. The semifinals will run from May 25 to June 1. The Finals and Battle for Bronze will be a best of three series. The Finals will run from June 3 to June 8. Take note that the tournament format will no longer follow the carry-over system but will follow the back-to-zero rule in which, your win-loss record will not be carried over to the next stages off the tournament. There will be a major change with regards to roster management. Instead of the usual, the V-League Board has implemented a new rule. It states that the only players allowed to play for the upcoming V-League will be the ones who were officially included in the varsity line-up. This was implemented to avoid the speculations and issues in terms of cheating with regards to the line-ups and rosters of each team. This was done also, so as to maintain the competitiveness and to keep the collegiate environment of the league. The league has only allowed 12 collegiate players from each team and 1 guest player be it local or foreign. The board changed the rules also about guest players. The league agreed that teams can change guest players anytime and as many times, only during the preliminaries or before the quarterfinals. During the quarterfinals and semifinals, whoever their guest player is, will be their guest player wherever the tournament leads them. There are a lot of rumors going on about guest players and the opening games this coming V-League but the final list of guest players and the complete schedule will be released on Easter Sunday or the day after that. Come back soon!
