MANILA, Philippines - Ateneo de Manila University, Lyceum of the Philippines University, and Far Eastern University won their matches on Tuesday in the quarterfinals round of Shakey's V-League Season 5 at The Arena in San Juan.
The Ateneo Lady Eagles downed College St. Benilde Lady Blazers (25-12, 25-9, 25-17) for their second straight victory in the round, according to a V-League statement.
Thai import Em-orn Phanusit was at the forefront of the Lady Eagles offense, hitting 17 markers, while Ma. Carmina Acevedo added 10 kills for a 13-point output as they duplicated their straight-set victory over the Lyceum Lady Pirates last Sunday.
In the second game, the Lady Pirates downed the University of San Jose-Recoletos' bid to keep in step with Ateneo. The Pirates won in four sets (26-24, 25-27, 25-17, 25-13) over the Cebuanos.

According to the commentator, Coach Pamilar told him Ana Camille Abanto is no longer part of the FEU Varsity Team.
Though they lost, USLS is a strong team. Grabe ang Guest player na si Orendain. She does not have the built of a 15 year old and magaling na tlaga siya maglaro. Expect the manila teams to go gaga over this girl. I hope to see more of her though matagal pa siya maglalaro sa collegiate level kasi incoming fourth year high school pa daw ito.
Other notable USLS players are the aplasca sisters, especially K who is a force in the net. I'm giving the girls hands down knowing na its their debut pa...
As to Tamaraws, all hands down to Gonzales....ewan ko if napapansin nyo pero parang mas lumalakas na ang mga palo ni Shaira....kkatakot na hehehe.
congrats FEU! Congrats to USLS too! Great game!
